“This is positively dystopian," Walker wrote. "It should go without saying that if liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.’”

Nice rebuttal to fascism

So, @ABM should schools in Florida be prohibited from hearing about the Q Club massacre in Colorado?

I'm not aware that they have been. I've been away from things a bit as I've been recovering from triple-bypass open-heart surgery this past week. Strange thing...the heart. I had recently hiked 6 miles at over 12,000 ft. Plus, another long biking trip. As it turned out, I had 100% blockage in one main artery, 95% blockage in my widow-maker, and 85% blockage in another. And I thought I was healthy. I'm grateful to be alive. My wife made me go to the ER last Saturday. I owe her, and God, my second chance in life.

Damn. Glad you are recovering.

Eesh!

glad you're doing better.

Having recovered from heart failure over 6 years ago I wish you a speedy recovery...it's no fun. A while back I mentioned that for the heart health, might want to back off the heavy meat diet and bbq. I just turned down a trip to Taiwan on recommendations by my heart doctor....traveling a lot and changing your environment often is stressful on the heart. At our age, might want to slow down and pace yourself. Just thought I'd share my experience a bit and give you a glimpse of what happens post heart failure. You should thank your heart surgeons for your procedure...they do the heavy lifting when it comes to saving hearts. Uric acid is hell on blood vessels.

It was probably all that exercise that did you in. Everyone knows you are safer if you stay on the couch.

Hmmmm…..a Republican with a heart(?). Good to know that one exists. And I’m glad you got it fixed in time. I too have cardiac issues (AFib, stent, pacemaker) and it’s a wake up call. Don’t try to rush your recovery. It takes time, so be patient. I think you’ll be surprised at how good you feel despite not feeling bad before the surgery. And Riverman is 100% correct. Lay off the beef and pork. Chicken and fish are now your new best friends. Get well soon!

Wow, incredibly glad you made it through it.

Wow. Scary stuff. Glad you and your wife (!) made the decision to go get help!

Wow that's scary stuff man! I'm glad you got it fixed before something worse happened. I hope you're still able to eat some of the foods you like!

Alright. No cupcakes next time. I'll make you something with kale. Haha.

Seriously though. Glad you were able to get that taken care of, and please take it easy and follow the health guidelines of your doctors.

Maybe realize life is too short to spend it trying to take away other people's rights.

The former officer who tackled the Q Club shooter, straight, cis, married, father, small businessman, said he served so that Americans could be free to do what they want to. Get married. Enjoy drag performance. Not hurt each other.

When a person with a long history of homophobic comments targets a club that caters primarily to LGBTQ people and the reaction on the right is to spew more hate and even blame the victims for their own murder ... yes, I damn well do consider the virulent homophobia and transphobia on the right to be partially responsible. I say partially because I do not absolve the homophobic transphobic bigot who did the killing.

The media immediately rushed to conclusions. A lot of eggs on their collective faces there. The shooter's attorney has come out with the non-binary talk. Some have speculated the attorney is strategizing to lose the "hate crime" tag,

How does the lawyer "strategizing" make the media have "eggs on their collective faces?"

No one has egg on their face. Who do you say has egg? A defense attorney is not an unbiased source.
The shooter has used male pronouns, referred to himself as male, is virulently anti gay. His attorney has to defend a person whose crime was witnessed by numerous people, has a history of violence, history of homophobia, and ABM says it's jumping to conclusions to say he was motivated by bigotry. And right wing media isn't even bothering with thoughts and prayers. They are going straight to blaming victims and exonerating themselves for demonizing my community.

I could've done a better job of parsing those thoughts.

1) The "left" wing media should have eggs on their faces for (too) quickly attributing blame - https://www.foxnews.com/media/color...edia-blame-republicans-tragedy-lgbtq-rhetoric

The media has a responsibility here irrespective of who's at fault. They rushed far too quickly without care or concern for the victims.

2) There are some out there speculating that the shooter's attorney has called the shooter a non-binary in hopes of eliminating any chance of a hate crime.

My comments were directed toward the left-wing media and the shooter's attorney.
