Federal employees asked DeSantis to retract statement he will cut throats of employees his first day. I've seen Arya Stark, Ronny, and you're no Arya Stark.

Just making the point that the republicans (the politicians) gave control of their party to Trump and are now kicking themselves. The polls show the majority of republican voters are still devoted to him. There is no one even close in that primary.

But, yeah DeSantis is not a strong candidate. He piggybacks off of others playbooks, using Youngkin's attacks on schools, Abbott's shipping of immigrants to other states, etc. He kisses Trump's ass and coattail rides, somehow thinking he can beat him. His campaign has proven an embarrassment.
Republicans didn't give control to Trump. He took it.

I guess they kind of gave it to him by being the racist, anti-education, anti-environment party which largely relies on religion, thereby opening the party up to being extremely susceptible to propaganda.

A Trump was bound to come along eventually... But they were trying to hold him down. They did everything they could. But their party had gone too far and having a black president for two full terms pushed them over the edge...

The only way Trump could have taken control of the GOP was because the GOP politicians allowed Trump to do so...Trump led them like lemmings and they chose to follow him and the same can be said of his MAGA voters.

Nobody forced McConnell and McCarthy, et al, to go along with Trump's insanity, but they were so concerned with their jobs and how Trump's voter base would react, they simply capitulated, because they were spineless..

Trump gave them tax cuts for the rich and right wing judges. They made a deal with the devil and got the devil.

Call it what you'd like, the whole sea rose at the same time. All walks of life were reaping the financial. benefits.

hey look, the toilet overflowed again

I pulled my mine out of public school. They already waste entirely too much time there, over politicized and ideological curriculum coming from both sides is just another good reason. Let the maniacs who run this elder care home of a government fight over the indoctrination of someone else’s children.

And private school has none of that?

Are you really getting a lot from both sides in Wyoming?

It would have been political suicide to go against Trump. They had no choice if they wanted to be politicians.

We already know they don't actually stand for anything, so they decided to just ride the wave and outlast him.

Screwed the pooch over the COVID outbreak.

First president since Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression to depart office with fewer jobs in the country than when he entered.

Along with numerous scandals, riots all over the country, directly overseeing authoritarian tactics like ordering and supporting the killing of an American suspect before trial, ordering his personal guard to beat peaceful protestors so he could clear space for a photo op.

The list goes on...

Soon to include convictions...

Campaign manager shake-up. Let's see how that works out for him.

The spineless ass hats that bowed down to Trump did in fact have a choice...political suicide be damned. (another good reason for "term limits)

Paul Ryan , for example, early on had the cahones to stand up to Trump and tried to fight for the soul of the GOP, but lost and was essentially forced out by the cowards in his own party...but IMO, would make a much more formidable Republican candidate than either Trump or DeSantis.

Ryan has also coincidentally already pledged to support "anyone but Trump" in 2024.

Wow is he really going to support Joe Biden?

Oh I would have certainly taken the Paul Ryan path if I were in that position.

But that wouldn't change anything. That would wind up just giving Trump more power.

Imagine if Pence had stepped down and nobody else remotely sane were there to step up? How much worse could Jan 6th have gone?

I'm not advocating for their course of action, simply saying that they were screwed no matter what they chose. Trump owns the GOP and nobody was going to stop that after the decades of the GOP destroying the rationale of the base.

Has anyone else noticed that there's only one candidate that has even mentioned "term limits", much less support them?

Ha !...well, if it comes down to Trump vs Biden in 2024,...probably so...I would too, wouldn't you?

I should have put green font, I don’t think Paul Ryan would support Biden. He may not support Trump, and I give him props for that. But I highly doubt he’ll support Biden, his policies are like the antithesis of what Paul Ryan believes in.

I knew your comment was tongue-in-cheek...as was my reply.
