his defense has always been shit but it's hit a new low this year, and when he's not shooting, he's useless out there. we all were treated to a special treat last year finding a guy who hit over 100 threes off the bench while becoming a consistent scorer and it was basically boki camp during preseason where all we heard is "watch out for Boki this year"... now, look at him. if we do resign the guy, it should be for very cheap

I'm guessing this is the last few months we'll see Boki in a Nets uniform, unless he turns it up about 3 notches which I don't see happening.

well who are you goin to find to replace him?

any free agents you have in mind?!

hes not as good as last year but still.... hes are best scorer off the bench, hes still averaging 10 points also. had 22 last night 4 tonight.

Kareem Rush, Quinton Ross, Bobby Jones, Matt Barnes, Mickael Pietrus, Jarvis Hayes, Eduardo Najera, JR Smith®, James Jones (if he opts out)...

And that's just the unrestricted free agents (other than JR).

Let him walk.

We've got Krstic, Van Horn, Boki, Mags and Diop all expiring. I'd prefer to use that money to resign Krstic and Diop.

EDIT: And sign Quinton Ross! I love Quinton Ross!

Haha, your welcome. And you've reminded me, that's not even mentioning the draft. I'm sure there's a bunch of good International wing players we'll find out about come draft time.

Boki seems like a good kid, but he's clearly on his way out. I expect there to be a full team commitment to defense with NO weak links. What does Boki do that, say, Kaneel Dickens can't? (20 points, 42% 3-pointers in D league) or Kevin Pittsnogle? And that's just if you're not looking for any defense.

WHAT
AND WE DIDN'T DO IT !!! STUPID MOTHER F..........

I think the reason Boki was effective last season was because he wasn't the only we looked for to drain the 3-ball. Perhaps if we sign one of those mentioned FAs and resign Boki for a similar contract, he would once again get his 3pt% up. What do you think?

i think he was under the radar last year, nobody, not even us expected him to play that well... or even knew who he was, he had no pressure, this year he had all the hype around him, right from training camp and he may feel the pressure, remember he's always been a bad shooter, last year was the exception, in houston, in NO, bad shooting and this year.

im fine with boki as a 7-8 man in the rotation but he should not be a 6th man right now

when I saw the videos of him at summer camp I was expecting an easy 10 pts off the bench atleast that but every once in 8 games he explodes and that is like 20 points, I pray Denver waives JR I want that guy back in NJ badly.

oh, that was a cheapshot

i like boki...if we can get him for cheap why not? though he is struggling with his shot this year, his shooting form looks pretty good...he can also go aggressively to the basket...a 6'9" player who can handle the ball and can (sometimes) shoot adds a different dimension to the team...on defense he is useless but he does often try to take charges and is learning to flop...

boki should learn how to shoot pulling up from the dribble and also i don't get why he can't change direction while driving to the basket he has pretty good handles...learn the crossover/between-the-legs/behind-the-back boki!

if for cheap, lets say a 2 year 6 million dollar deal, sure, why not but lets not overpay the guy, like mikki money or scallops

But most of those points come in garbage time IMO, although he did do good in the Pacers loss, but I wish he could score when we win.

Not sure if you guys are serious or not.

But Smith was cited fro running the stop sign in an accident where his friend did die this past summer.

it doesn't help that his friend wasn't wearing a seatbelt

Investing money into JR's cancerous lack of judgment just because he can score a little is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing. There's a reason he's constantly mentioned in trades and there are plenty of other options where just because he's a hometown boy in no way makes it a good decision.

That being said, Boki's had a nice time with us but we need more consistent players. Not even markedly better, just consistent.

Barnes would be great.

J.R. Smith is an interesting possibilty...
Of all the options on the market, including Boki, Pietrus, and Barnes; Smith has the most talent.

Obviously the knock on him is character, defense, and a sometimes crazy shot selection. He is however young at only 22, and could potentially be a superstar if he ever gets his head together. Assuming we are going to try to remain a playoff team and we keep our now dynamic duo of Vince and RJ then Smith would be a sensible choice to replace Boki as a 6th man.

As a franchise we have recently taken chances on players in the draft with character flaws and work ethic issues...players such as Marcus Williams, Josh Boone and Sean Williams were considered to have character concerns when we selected them in the draft.

Sometimes in life you have to take a risk in order to reap rewards...Smith would obviously be risk but he could potential be a great player...he's young and talented, maybe he just needs a chance on a team with the proper leadership and coach.

Personally I think that players like RJ and Vince could help this kid to grow up and reach his potential, and as much as I sometimes loathe Frank he has handled players with baggage before and may be able to better reach Smith that Karl currently is.

The fact remains that the biggest weakness on this team is our obvious lack of a 6th man, due to this absence both RJ and Vince have to play to many minutes and are unable to take games off in order to let there injuries heal. Having a player like Smith on this team would allow us to keep both RJ and Vince's minutes in the low 30s rather than the 38.7 mins they both currently average. With a guy like Smith on the bench We could keep them both at 33 mins while giving Smith 30 mins a night with which we can safely assume he'd be able to average 15+ off the bench.

Given his age and talent, and the fact that he won't be that expensive; I personally view him as a strong possibilty for us come this offseason.
