I just noticed that the game starts at 8:30 tonight in Utah. That's a very late start time. Most NBA games start at 7 or 7:30 PM. Anyone know why this start time is so late?

I think it is on TNT . . . which has great HD and audio.

Love the feature where they mic up a player . . .

Game is on TNT.

TNT tells you when to play. It is the 2nd of their double header, which almost always starts at 7:30 Pacific / 10:30 Eastern. Normally that is fine if the game is in LA or Sacramento or Portland.

because salt lake city is in the Mountain Time Zone?

Yes, and Utah normally starts their home games at 7:30pm like everyone else, except when national TV says "no, you start at 8:30pm", which is pratically bedtime in the state of Utah.

Yes. If they want to play on TNT, they have to play at 830 Utah time.

That's a kick in the balls to Utah people. The late state plus the longer halftime and timeouts due to it being on TNT.

Though it's not like Utah gets hosed all the time...iirc Miller has dictated that Utah won't play Sunday home games. I think it's more like Utah figured being on national TV was better than inconveniencing MST fans.

Portland usually starts their home games at 7 pm, with tip-off around 7:07 or so.

I think it's that he won't attend Sunday home games, not that the team won't play them.

This is a good thing as most of the Utah fans are usually in bed by this time.

The Mormon jokes are bad because they aren't close enough to being even true to be funny.
