Antonio Barton is transferring from Memphis to Tennessee.

Barton confirmed to The Associated Press on Sunday that he had chosen Tennessee, where the guard says he thinks the Volunteers have all the pieces in place for him to play on a team that can win.

"I'm so excited," Barton said. "I'm just ready to get started as quick as possible."

Barton's older brother, Will of the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, tweeted earlier Sunday that his brother had decided to transfer to Tennessee. University officials could not comment because a signed letter of intent had not been received as of Sunday afternoon.

On this forum, this probably falls under the category of "shit I could care less about," but around these parts, I think the more appropriate title is, "Will Barton's Younger Brother Pulls a Bitch Move."

There are nearly 400 D-I schools, and he picks Tennessee? C'mon man...

Hey fuck you!

GO VOLS

Man, I hate the Tigers. I'm a Spartan fan. Just relaying what people are saying in Memphis...

Huge addition for UT with Trae Golden leaving though... that one caught me off guard. Antonio Barton's not exactly All-SEC material or anything, but he's way better than the alternatives UT was looking at this season.

Haha, then why not share it with s2? Was looking for a thread about it beforehand...

Barton's really stirring up a lot of shit with the local fanbase. The timing couldn't be worse either, because it just so happens that the Grizz got knocked out, and now everyone's looking at the Tigers, and being particularly vicious about Antonio Barton's decision, almost like they're venting from the Spurs series.

Like I said, I hate the Tigers, that's a university in my city, but it ain't my university... (as far as local universities go, I've always been more Ole Miss than Memphis).

Still, as a Memphian, I can't get behind Antonio Barton's decision. You couldn't have gone to Maryland, or hell, Oregon or Oregon State and been by your brother? Picking Tennessee is like a slap in the face to anyone who supported him over the years in Memphis. It'd be like if Kurt Rambis decided one day that he'd have a better career as a Celtic and jumped town...
