If I'm Seattle and I'm truly offering 9/225 I dont let him get on a plane to "think about it". I'd put it on the table, say that's their best offer. And give him a couple of hours to go gather his counter offers if he so chooses, which he will.

Puzzle is incomplete, but based on the fact we have a virtually empty tank of trade ammo and the remaining FA list is very blah this season looks like another 4th place season in the making. If we signed the 4 best remaining FAs I wouldnt be confident we make the playoffs.

Our lineup is completely void of power. It's completely void of .300 hitters. And our starting rotation has the same 1-2-3 as last year which was a total and utter shit show.

On top of that we lost our HOF closer and have added nothing to the pen.

Not looking pretty.

Re: Cano in Seattle Meeting with Mariners

...lol...and he was having dinner with the Mets last week.

...nice to know that I'm still in some people's heads.

You laugh a lot, are we still going to be better in 2014 Old Man?

Out: Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte

In: Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann, Kelly Johnson, Mark Teixeira returning

...yes, they will be better...but the better question is, are you still standing out on the ledge?

You need to remove Andy and Marianno from the equation. They were retiring. There is no humanly possible way to replace Rivera. I'll bet you that in the end, McCann and Ellsbury have very similar numbers to Cano and Granderson combined. And that both will outshine Granderson. And this is from another Old Man that says and has continued to say, let the off season play out. What if this was our opening day lineup

Ellsbury CF
Jeter SS Ryan
Beltran (RF) Ichiro
Sorianno DH/LF
Tex 1B
McCann C Cervelli
Infante 3B Reynolds
Johnson 2B Nunez
Gardner LF Wells

How bad would that really be. And that lineup would not be an upgrade over last year, injuries or not.

Our lineup completely void of power?

Tex 25-35 HR
Sorianno 25-35 HR
Ellsbury 15-22 HR
McCann 25-30 HR
Johnson 15-20 HR given the AB
and if we sign
Beltran 25-30 HR
Infante 10-15 HR

Leaving Jeter and Gardner in single digits. So there is a realistic 140+ to 187 HRs from the starting lineup. No power?
