Will CJ be traded by the deadline?

Now it's Dallas, New Orleans and Knicks all wanting CJ. If we can't get something good out of this, I will be really disappointed.

Get ready for another give away! I'd probably go with Pelicans, Mavs and Knicks in that order in terms of desirable assets.

It'll be the one that saves us the most money, not the one that offers us the best players.

CJ has never been an all star but a damn good scoring guard. Because of his personality and involvement with media he will be welcome especially to a bigger market.
Again, when you are dumping players, teams never get back equal value unless they are super stars.

While I have accepted that we likely wont get an all-star caliber player for CJ I think it's absolutely ridiculous that we shouldn't get at least a very good starter level player (preferably a big) and/or a good pick. Getting a mix of decent borderline starters and/or bench players that aren't bigs is silly. As others have said I would rather keep CJ for now if thats the case and I have been ready to move him for years.

It’s gonna be the knicks for scraps….
Fournier is one of my least favorite players in the league and he’s gonna be a blazer

I doubt it just for the reason he's got a long contract. If CJ is dumped for scraps, at least they'll be on short contracts.

It’s more likely we’d get more value for him at the trade deadline than the offseason. Teams looking for that player to get them over the top during a playoff run.

Not getting Ben Simmons. People need to move on from this.

Agreed. Trading Roco and Powell for 3 scrubs removed the chance of Simmons coming here to build a contender. The Blazers roster is not a move away from contending, even adding an allstar doesn't make us a contender.

If we tried to trade for Simmons, ignoring Morey's unrealistic demands, there is a very real chance he doesn't buy in and wants out in the near future. Let Simmons redeem his value with a different franchise.

Its odd because once we get money we hand it out to free agents like Even Turner, or max offers to guys who won't even sign here like Turkoglu, Chandler Parsons, and Spencer Hawes.

But now we are trying to trade away rotational players on guaranteed contracts?

What are we going to do, give DeMarcus cousins a huge free agent offer?

There is no long term foresight to this franchise right now. At this point I'd prefer Rich Cho comes back and runs the team.

The only way to acquire an impact front line player for CJ is by including other assets which we have and I think will happen. Hopefully by end deadline.

Atlanta will be a player for both CJ & Nurk.

YUCK!

Knicks: We want CJ!
Cronin: Great! What's your offer?
Knicks: Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose!

Knicks: ...hello?

Actually the conversation would continue like this:

knicks…hello?
Cronin: sorry, I was thinking. We’re in. Can you please include a 2029 2nd rounder?
Knicks: no
Cronin: ok ok, sorry.

if the goal is to get rid of cj mccollum and his salary, he will most likely get traded by the deadline, but if the goal is to get good return for him, then he will be shipped out in the off-season

Kinda interesting Fournier and Bledsoe make the same amount this year
That is actually a fascinatingly relevant point. Because of this, theoretically, a CJ/Bledsoe/Winslow for Randle/Fournier/Gibson deal could actually happen, viewed as three separate trades on our end (to avoid the aggregation prohibition), and one single deal on NY's end (to fit into the 125% criteria). Would save us another 9M this year, as well as increasing our size profile, and would actually save NY a ton next year assuming they cut Bledsoe and only pay the $4M guarantee.

I would not be surprised to see that happen, and every Blazer fan lose their lunch.

Good creative theory. So then the two trades together would be;

CJ Norm Roco for
Randle Fournier Keon

Nurk
Randle Nance
Fournier NAS
Ant
Dame

It makes much more sense than a Dame CJ Ant trio. But I think we are basically stuck with Nurk/Randle/Ant/Dame as our big $ starters for the future. Can that team contend? I'd say quite unlikely. But if Randle played as he did last year, and Ant became an allstar, and we got some MLE/draft picks.... it could be an interesting team.

Would you take on Hardaway to get rid of CJ? I would genuinely consider Hardaway to get Brunson and/or Finney-Smith, although that's a risk, because both are UFAs and if they leave and you're stuck with Hardaway alone... (shudder).

I'd do CJ + Snell for Powell + Bullock + Kleiber + 1st

Dallas can keep their 1st if they agree to a Winslow for DFS swap

Olshey was thinking "I hope those fans who wanted me fired are happy with my replacement, BWAHAHAHAHA!!"

Olshey agreed to sign an NDA and leave quietly - but only if the team hired Cronin to replace him? :dunno:

Do you remember when it was possible to tell satire from reality?

Today I’d say yes. I’m not voting though because that may change daily
