You aren't going to tell us Garcia is the missing piece now are you?

Why do you think other teams want to get rid of some of their players? To upgrade. Very rare that a trade upgrades both teams.

Teams don't always want to trade to upgrade though. a player might not fit in one teams system but could thrive in another. He might be a malcontent in the locker room and they are tired of the headaches. They might be rebuilding and want to get bad fast so they aren't looking for talent for talent. They might want to tweak their financials to put them in a better spot this summer or next. Maybe they don't want a guy with a player option. There's all kinds of reasons

Sure but in half or so of those cases we also wouldn't want that player.

It was most a comment about Garcia. Would we want him? Would they take Wright? If not then not seeing it.

I was responding more to that part than the Garcia part.

:confused:Rondo is being shipped pretty hard. I wonder how good of a backcourt Rondo and Lillard would be?

I think it would be amazing. We've seen how successful the Dragic/Bledsoe pairing is in Phoenix as well as how well Dame plays off the ball. I would be all for it. What would it take to get Rondo? CJ+some of Robinson/Leonard would at least get the conversation started I'd imagine. Maybe CJ+Wes. I know Boston won't give him away. I'd do it but it would really hurt to see Wes go.

I would love to get MKG from Charlotte. I think he is a future DPOY. I know he can't shoot but this team has enough weapons to help hide him offensively while allowing him to do what he does best.

I think a Lowrey/Lillard backcourt would be pretty sick. He would come at a significantly lower price as well.

Great young core, but unfortunately I think they will be outplayed by the more experienced teams such as the Thunder and Spurs. So my question is, what move should they make before the transfer window closes to ensure they have a better chance to making the conference finals? I don’t necessarily think the Blazers have to make a trade before the deadline. I think a big reason for their success this season is that their players have developed chemistry and fit together nicely. I don’t think it’s necessary to make a trade just to bring in someone with more postseason experience. It’s possible for a team to make a nice postseason run without being full of experienced veterans. Also, trading for a veteran would mean that they have to give up someone, which doesn’t make much sense. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

If they really want to add an experienced veteran so badly, they can sign a free agent with a ring like Richard Hamilton, Shannon Brown, Lamar Odom or Andrew Bynum. I recently wrote about all of the free agents who are still available.

I think Philly should at least trade Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes before the deadline since those two will be free agents this summer. They might as well get something back for those players now rather than potentially losing them for nothing over the offseason, assuming they aren’t part of the 76ers’ long-term plan. Thaddeus Young may get moved at some point too, but they could always decide to trade him over the summer or next season, since he’s under contract for next year. Trading all three before the deadline makes sense if Philly wants to try to lose a few more games to compete with Orlando and Milwaukee for worst record in the league, which really should be their goal at this point. It’ll be interesting, Philly is definitely a team to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Okie town should look into trading Westbrook, they'd probably be able to get a really good big man for him.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were hoping to be a playoff contender this season around Kyrie Irving, but have been terribly disappointing. The Cavaliers have missed on several draft picks and Chris Grant's job as general manager is in danger.

"Kyrie Irving has been telling people privately he wants out," wrote Chad Ford.

Irving becomes eligible for a contract extension this offseason and will presumably receive a max offer from the Cavaliers. Irving could become a restricted free agent in the 2015 offseason meaning he could not leave outright until 2016.

"The Cavs are working to try to create a winning situation and culture to make him happy," wrote Ford. "Didn't report it to say he's gone. Just trying to show why the Cavs are trying hard to right the ship right now."

Are the Bulls shopping Gibson?

The Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Bobcats have each engaged in preliminary trade talks with the Chicago Bulls regarding Taj Gibson, according to a source.

The Bulls reportedly did not like the possible return from any of the teams.

The Bulls could be determined to move salary to create room and pair Derrick Rose with a second superstar.

“The way that works is this, when something gets close or they think there’s something there that makes sense they’ll come to me,’’ Tom Thibodeau said. “Every conversation that they’re having I don’t know about nor do I want to know about. I think it’s important for me to be focused on the guys we do have.

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Philadelphia 76ers are open to trading forward Evan Turner and the Charlotte Bobcats have looked into acquiring him, an NBA source confirmed to the Observer Monday.
Turner, a 6-foot-7 forward, averages 18.1 points and six rebounds this season for the 76ers. He could potentially add the scoring punch the Bobcats need to reach the playoffs for only the second time in their decade-long history.
The question becomes what the Bobcats would be willing to offer, considering Turner would become a restricted free agent this summer. The team with his rights would have to make Turner a qualifying offer of about $8.7 million to restrict him.
The Bobcats have assets they could throw into trades. They could have as many as three first-round picks in what should be a rich 2014 draft – their own and picks potentially owed them by the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons.
However, the Bobcats might owe their own pick to the Chicago Bulls (to complete the Tyrus Thomas trade). The picks Detroit and Portland owe Charlotte have some protection; more than likely the Bobcat get Portland’s pick in June. It’s less likely they end up with Detroit’s.
As far as making a Turner trade work under the salary cap, the Bobcats have Ben Gordon’s expiring contract, worth $13.2 million in cap value this season.
Nothing about the Bobcats’ interest appears imminent to making a deal.

Why not? If tanking teams are willing to unload seriously good players and he's the price of getting it done, why not? I'd give him up for several players, Larry Sanders and Luol Deng included. (Yes, I know that Deng's just been traded, but he can be traded again, just like Rasheed was from Atlanta, and Cleveland's got to know they've got next to no chance of re-signing him in the offseason given what he's seen and said about the Cavs.)

CJ is the nearest thing we have to a first round pick, which is what all the tanking teams will want.

Deng would be such a good fit on this team. He'd be a fantastic 6th man and would allow Batum some more rest while he heals

Perhaps if they got Pau it would change things. Sarver is notoriously pretty cheap.

Freeland/Pau to Phoenix
Frye to Portland
Okafor/? to LAL

I would certainly trade CJ in the right deal. My thought was that the Blazers aren't as hot to make a trade as the posters on this board are. I also have doubts that any other team wants a half-dozen of our scrubs, like some (not yours) trade 'wishes' I've seen here (where would they put them?). And CJ doesn't make enough $$ to get back an impact player. If a team really wants to tank, they should trade for Mo. ;)

POR sends out: Dorell Wright (PHX), Meyers Leonard (PHI)
PHI sends out: Evan Turner (PHX), Spencer Hawes (PHX)

Philly saves a little money (Okafor is insured), picks up a draft pick and a project center who may fit with Noel as a big body who plays 4 on offense, and loses more games this year.

Phoenix adds a bit of vet experience, gets a major shot in the arm for the playoffs this year, and it's low risk b/c Wright is the only guy who's not expiring. They only give up one draft pick in order to build some momentum for the playoffs next year.

Portland gets a real bench scoring threat, without giving up much. Frye also fits with our two year contract plan right now. We don't really even have to give up a rotation player. Freeland or Robinson end up playing depending on what Stotts wants.

Also: with Frye as a perimeter shooting threat, Portland could much more easily add either a defender w/o a J (tony allen) or a PG w/o one (Andre Miller) to bolster the bench.

I like it! also frees up some minutes for Crabbe & Claver.
