Re: ~~~The "OFFICIAL" 2014 trade deadline thread~~~

bahahaha. I just read the comments of the cleveland link I just posted. Look at this doozy.

They need to trade Kyrie Irving and Deng to the Knicks for Amari and Felton...not a Knicks fan, just think that would be a good deal for Cleveland...again i am not a Knicks fan.]

Re: ~~~The "OFFICIAL" 2014 trade deadline thread~~~

How would Deng and batum play together? It would take Batum+ or Mathews+. I would rather trade Mathews then Batum.

We could go small or big very easily if we had Deng and Batum.

Re: ~~~The "OFFICIAL" 2014 trade deadline thread~~~

Right now, I would deal Wes for Deng. If we want to go small, we play CJ at shooting guard. Deng is exactly the kind of third star you want. He's not going to bitch like Melo, he's not a superstar, but he's a legit All-Star caliber player.

Not a bad trade. But, I value Wes a little more than value as a player for what he brings to the locker room and his tenacity.

Matthews has better advanced stats this year as well. I wouldn't do that trade.

The problem is that we have two really streaky guys in the starting lineup. When they're both on, we're basically unbeatable, but when they're both off it's extremely hard to win. Paired with our shitty bench, we need our starting five firing on all cylinders to win games. I think we need one more guy in the starting lineup that is guaranteed to score points. Deng would be a nice addition. We move Nic into the backcourt with Dame and bring CJ off the bench as the backup two.

Either that, or we just sit on things and try to bolster the bench more this summer and let the starters continue to gel.

I don't think I would trade Matthews for Deng.

I also don't think it would make us much better in the long run, if at all.

We need to stop thinking long run and start thinking win now. We have no idea what the future holds. Back in 2008 would you have thought that both Oden and Roy would be gone in a matter of a couple years? We're at the top of the west, we have two All-Stars, let's make a push for this fucking thing. If there's a deal that can be made, you make it. Not saying Deng is the guy, but we need to stop thinking down the road and start thinking about the now.

I agree 100%!! Blazers want to win now so stop thinking about down the road.

They score the same amount of points.

I don't think it makes us better now either.

Re: ~~~The "OFFICIAL" 2014 trade deadline thread~~~

Swapping Wes for Deng will do nothing to move us forward. Sure, Deng might be a bit better but the end results will be the same.
Plus, I don't think CLE is going to get a player as good as Wes. Better idea would be either CJ or Robinson (not both) plus Leonard and contracts to match.

I also don't think the Cavs are looking to trash for a legit starter.

Re: ~~~The "OFFICIAL" 2014 trade deadline thread~~~

I would trade Mo and Wright for just about anything of use right now.

Re: ~~~The "OFFICIAL" 2014 trade deadline thread~~~

here is an idea I like:

Tayshaun Prince & Kosta Koufas for Thomas Robinson, Dorrell Wright, and Will Barton.

Grizzlies get younger, and get a much better shooter at SF in Wright. Grizzlies also save almost 3mil this year, and next.
Blazers upgrade their backup big man situation at the expense of eating Prince's deal. Both Prince (7mil per) and Koufus (3 mil per) also expire after next season which also seems to fit our plans

I like the idea of Tayshaun coming here. He wouldn't complain and he has championship experience. Not to mention he would be better than Wright coming of the bench.

I personally think we'll see another under-the-radar move similar to getting Eric Maynor for next to nothing at last season's deadline.

I'd love to see a big name like Varejao or Hawes come over to shore up the frontline off the bench, but I don't think we have the available assets to get that done.
