Will the Blazers make a move at the deadline?

Denver wants to trade Faried because Hickson's the same thing but tied up longer and more cheaply. So let's get the real thing instead of Faried.

By the way, who is the MORON who got rid of Juwan Howard?

Don't just give away your chips! You're always sorry the next season!

Warriors looking for help as trade deadline nears and the Blazers will probably just sit on there hands.

With the Feb. 20 NBA trade deadline nearing, count the Golden State Warriors among the long list of teams still looking to improve its roster.

According to a person with knowledge of the Warriors' situation, Golden State is on the lookout for bench help and is hoping to use its trade exceptions as a way to facilitate such a deal that would likely need to involve three teams. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of trade discussions.

The Warriors have two sizable trade exceptions ($9 million and $4 million) that don't expire until next summer, as well as two smaller exceptions (approximately $780,000) that expire on Feb. 17.

Even with the recent trade with the Boston Celtics for backup point guard Jordan Crawford, the Warriors (31-21) still have one of the least productive bench units in the NBA and are well aware that their second unit will need more help for the post-All-Star break playoff push. According to hoopsstats.com, Golden State's second unit is 29th among 30 teams in bench scoring (24.1 points per game).

Traded player exceptions allow teams to acquire players without giving player(s) back in return, and teams looking to shed salary will surely be calling the Warriors soon to explore the many money-saving possibilities on this front. If there is a deal to be done, it's highly unlikely that it would involve the $9 million trade exception because of Golden State's already-steep payroll. The Warriors are approximately $2.5 million under the league's luxury tax threshold and would only consider using the largest of their exceptions for a major impact player.

As for the possibility of a bigger deal being done before the deadline, rival executives told USA TODAY Sports last week that anyone outside of point guard Stephen Curry and center Andrew Bogut is, to varying degrees, up for discussion. That includes second-year small forward Harrison Barnes, the Warriors reserve who is known to have sparked serious interest from a long list of suitors but who is unlikely to be traded unless it was part of a package for a big-name player. Even with Barnes' struggles (he shot 33.7% from the field in January while averaging 6.9 points per game), he still has no shortage of fans within the organization.

I really like Barnes. I don't think he is worth trading for unless we are blowing it up but he's going to be really good. I could see him being like a Paul Pierce type as he matures.

Someone tweeted that Joel Freeland's injury opens the door for SPENCER HAWES to Portland. Also tweeted that we have contacted them before regarding him.

Hawes and Teletovic have been my main targets.

I'm guessing that talks didn't go far -- Philly wants a first-rounder.

that's all I want. The only deal I want. The only deal I've wanted since the beginning of December. :smiley-drzifige:

The want 1st rounders for both Hawes and Turner but have yet to find any takers. 1st round picks in this coming draft will be difficult to get so they may have to alter their expectations or possibly just let them walk. The closer it gets to the deadline, the more inclined they may be to take back a young player on a rookie contract, ie Leonard or McCollum.

Assuming the Bucks won't give up Larry Sanders, how about getting Ilyasova and Pachulia? I'd actually like Caron Butler as well/instead of Ilyasova, but he's only on a one year deal so they're probably happy to keep him (unless he screams to get out - but given all the stuff he said about "coming home" that would be awkward). Ilyasova was looking very good on a better Bucks team and Pachulia is a surprisingly decent backup center. You've got to think both would be very available, though, given that they're signed to longish contracts but don't really fit with the youth movement.

I think Pachulia would be a decent addition to our bench. I dunno how well him and Freeland would work together once Freeland returned, but we could cross that bridge when we get to it. At 5.2 a year for this year an the next 2, and with Henson and Sanders on board, I imagine Milwaukee wouldn't hesitate to move him.

Meyers was a first rounder. ;)

Yes...we not only have 1st rounders, we have multiple 1st round lottery picks.

Leonard and McCullom.

Call 1-800- GOT-PICK for your trade scenarios. Ask for Neil.

The Blazers aren't going to trade CJ, Meyers or TRob. CJ is just looking too good. Thomas and Meyers are too gifted physically to walk away from at this point. The team as a whole isn't ready for a fine tune move that would give up assets and maybe get them to the 2nd round.

I agree, I have been saying Pachulia would be good for a while now. Pachulia is one if not the only true back to the basket center left in the NBA.

In Pachulia's home country, his nickname is Gesundheit.

When the natives hear anyone say Pachulia! they say Gesundheit!

I don't think we will. First, we really don't have any assets. Second, our window is just opening. Third, any of our assets we would trade would be undervalued because they still have upside.

I think this year has been a pleasant surprise. I think Olshey was looking to next year or the year after for the team to really come together. We won't have a first round pick, but I think we'll be able to sign a nice bench player or two with the MLE and vet min.

2 teams have already walked away from Robinson

My thoughts, exactly. This team is doing better than any of us anticipated (well, except for Mags, God bless his rose-colored glasses). Make the playoffs, get some experience as to what that's all about, and then add the missing ingredients over the summer.

I guess the only thing that I can think of that would make sense right now would be getting a vet off waivers, or maybe signing Camby, if he's ready to go after the break, as an extra big now that Freeland's down. I could see clearing room for a move like that by waiving Claver.

Rockets had to move TRob, wasn't because of his play, they had to pay Howard and move whatever they could to do it. Sac was dysfunctional as usual, they walked away from how many coaches? Seattle-Sac-Seattle-Sac..they didn't even know where they'd be. TRob has his first real job in the NBA now and I'm glad we got him

And this is fine with me. I'm enjoying our success, our growing pains, and watching our development.

Go Blazers!

right so the teams walked away from T Rob for a better situation, at least in their thinking. I was responding to a comment that said that both Meyers and Robinson were too gifted athletically to move right now. Just saying two teams have already and if a better opportunity comes up and we have to move them then we should take it.

Better situation being.... Dwight Howard?
