Will there be a free agent frenzy such as in the NFL?

It's pretty cool to think that several months worth of signings and other business would be done in under a week.

The only thing that's really any different is that college and veteran free agency (plus signing draft picks) is taking place at the same time. Normal veteran free agency happens pretty quickly. As for the NBA, I guess it all depends on whether or not they wipe out a full season or if they can get something sorted out this fall/winter.

Last time, they came to agreement in early January and after a shortened series of exhibition games, the regular season started in early February. There should have been a frenzy of free agent signings, but I don't remember that. Maybe the league wasn't yet so dependent upon FAs.

GMs and agents will really earn their money in the 1 month of preseason. That will cause basketball boards to explode with speculation and news reports.

I wonder how restriced free agency will work? If you have to wait 7 days in an extremely compressed free agent period I don't think many teams would make offers.
