I've been guilty of hating on successful teams, regardless of character. It's been soooo long being in the front, I don't remember being hated.

Maybe tpups, lakers?, who else's fans would hate us?

Hatred is created during the playoffs. People might just have a curious dislike for us so far.

Ahhhh it's been a while since we did anything worthy of hate in the playoffs. Probably why I can't remember

Omg why do blazer fans have a bad rep?

See this thread. It's December dude.

I don't know about hate right now, but I think a lot of people are still doubting us. That's okay. They can doubt us all the way to the parade on SW Broadway.

A lot depends on the number of cross-over Ducks fans

I don't think we really have any dicks on our team in the eyes of other teams and fans. I could see how Wes could get under other teams skin, but how could you not respect how hard our guys play and scrap. Kind if how I don't really think anybody hates the Spurs.

It's true. I was thinking about that. I think our players are humble too. Gotta respect that

no one hates spurs or pacers cause they play team ball while teams like nets, heat, knicks, lakers always try to buy championships

I think it's more of a "Well, they'll falter" but not a "I'm so mad they are doing good".

This. You hate some teams that are successful AND arrogant. Other teams that are successful but comport themselves professionally are respected, even feared, but not hated.

I think fans tend to hate other teams more so due to their fan bases and how they handle success.

Do any of you, outside of hating Kobe, actually hate the Laker players as much you hate the Laker fans?

Not to oversell the point, but I wonder if the perceived arrogance level of a fan-base also plays a role? Lakers fans are notorious for being front-running, chest-bumping, Dude bros. If Blazers fans become that insufferable and in-the-face of other fans, then whatever good will or general indifference we enjoy now could diminish some.

Sooooo true

But is it wrong for me to gloat to my laker friend fans like the hcp?

Team to hate? Are you kidding, most people view us as the team that DIDN'T draft Jordan, and DID draft Oden. That's all they ever
care about knowing. We are the team on the outskirts as far as they are concerned.

It's interesting, I was just talking to my dad about this the other day. If the Magic/Kareem/Worthy Lakers had been anywhere but in LA, I think I would have loved that team. So much fun to watch, so many great personalities. Great team basketball, but god I just can't like the Lakers. Doesn't matter who is on the team.

With that said, I hated the Shaq/Kobe Lakers because of who was on the team, because of the fans, and because of how the league treated them like gods.

We message board vets had some great 'battles' with both Laker and Jazz fans back in the late '90s/early '00s. After that, when you aren't in the playoffs, other fanbases tend to forget about you. If the Blazers continue to play elite, get ready for the DaRizzles, the Basels, and others to gravitate toward this board. Some people are just naturally attracted to post on the boards of opposing teams that have a shot. When you become irrelevant, you lose the outsider perspective, so the angst turns inward with Blazer poster battling Blazer poster. It's predictable, actually. Most of us here like to argue, and when you're a McCoy and can't argue with any Hatfields because they're gone, you start arguing with your fellow McCoys.

I've hated the Lakers growing up if Kermit Washington was their best player.

Oh man, so much hatred towards Laker fans in the late 90s. God I hated that team and their fans.

17-3 fist bump, brah?

The short answer is "no."

What is there to not like about the Blazers? No rape or drug allegations, no wife beating or drunk driving incidents, no police blotter (save 1 speeding ticket), no bragging or talking crap or show boating during interviews. This team is extremely humble, and a reflection of a very passionate fan base and city. When Blazer fans start posting "regular season" after losses, you will know 2 things:

1) Other team's fans will start hating Blazer fans

and

2) The fan that says or types that is not a real Blazer fan, but a bandwagon fan

Just the opposite. People who love basketball, and don't have a horse in the race will enjoy watching the way this team plays the game. There are "haters" everywhere. People who hate the Lebrons/Kobes/D12s, etc. If we continue to have success like this, we'll pick up more fans along the way as we go up against the teams that are frequently hated on. I was a "fan" of the mid 2000 Pistons who slayed the Lakers in the finals. Also enjoyed the early 2000 Sac teams & the Steve Nash Suns teams, who frequently battled the Lakers. When the Blazers became irrelevant I crossed over to root for teams playing against those I despise.

The only people who will hate on US are going to be fans of OKC, SA, LA, ect. They will be quick to point out our lack of playoff success (until it happens), and lack of "elite" individual players on our roster. They will belittle whatever accomplishments we attain until we win in April/May . . . and (hopefully) June. But overall I think we'll pick up more bandwagon fans than haters.

Thank you for your reflection on how you became irrelevant. What a long paragraph of pop psych-pap.
