Will we have to wait for Olshey to leave before we get a backup PG?

Looks like Lin will be going to the Nets or Warriors

With Adams gone, my guess is that he'll get a 2-way PG, one for practice purposes that won't threaten Ant.

I think the Blazers might end up signing Bowman

maybe, I certainly hope so. How many do we have under contract?

What I really think is happening is that Neil is trying to get Bowman, or some other PG, on a 2-way contract, and
that they won't do that until all options are exhausted (it's a sizeable pay cut).

How big of a rotation are people expecting us to play? 11-12 players? Have players DNP 2 games, then be ready for the 3rd?

I like how we can afford an injury or two in a few areas without a big drop off, but I'd rather have 8-9 super solid players than try to juggle 12 players worthy of playing time.

I'm starting to lean towards not wanting a solid backup PG. We have enough people in the rotation already; we don't need to add one. If Hood is healthy, we have four guys who can play guard, and I'm not counting Ant (don't think he should be in the rotation). Rather than putting energy into working a new guy into the offense; I would rather put the energy into getting more passing into the offense from the guys we already have. Still OK with having a defensive specialist PG on the roster since I don't think there are any good distributors available.

I would agree with that except.....that Stotts is still the coach and CJ is still the #2. We've seen those two not change for....years.

I agree with your thoughts also. But only a PG like Rajon Rondo could impose his will on the second unit and force them to play the game right.

I might be crazy, but maybe Giles can run point forward from the high post like he did in Sac.
Check out the passing:

...but imagine if Dame goes down

I'd love to be in a position where we could contend w/out Dame, but in that scenario, you wave the white flag. We're having a hard enough time putting a contending team around Dame, let alone a situation without him.

I only count ten Dame, CJ, RoCo, Zach, Nurk, Hood, Jones, Gary, Melo and Enes... I don't think any of the young guys should expect to play besides Gary. If they've made a major jump and their play in practice demands playing time I could see them featured just enough to get their trade value up.

The fact is that the reason why teams don't play more than 10 man rotations (and that's even a little much) is because when you are playing 11 or 12 guys you lose continuity and don't allow guys enough time to get in a rhythm and stay there. Now maybe Ant outplays Gary which is kind of laughable or Hood is so debilitated by the after effects of his ruptured Achilles that Nas beats him out for a spot in the rotation or maybe Jones just doesn't fit how Stotts and Olshey pictured so someone gets to step up in his place but if everything goes according to managements plan those are the ten guys and there is no way Stotts is giving 11 or 12 guys regular minutes. Stotts is already looking at a major adjustment because he usually plays his starters more than anyone else in the league and now he has a deep team but I don't expect him to go deeper than any other coach in the league.

Okay, but while we're waving the white flag, are we playing CJ and possibly Ant at the point and nobody else?

I remember when John Henson was supposed to be a slightly-less-skilled Anthony Davis

IMO they know they need to leave minutes for Ant. Maybe give him till trade deadline to see if he can handle some point and if not they go out and get a back up PG for playoff run.

Trent is going to eat up most of the back up minutes but I think they are still high on Ant

Seems highly likely to me. CJ for 30 minutes, Ant for 18. I agree with you it's not the optimal PG situation.

I agree with you on the people you named in the rotation. However, you know after a loss in January, some people will want to see Ant get some run, and Little, and Gabriel (if he returns), and saying Giles is better than Collins.

I think Olshey will be pushing hard for Ant to play. I also think you could see Giles play on certain nights with Kanter getting the DNP.

I just don't see where his minutes will come from. Unless we drastically reduce Dame and CJ's minutes.

We should be giving more minutes to GTJ, not Ant.

Neil: We have a backup, Anfernee.
