Do you think we could make a package for SA’s #8 using our 14 and change? I make the suggestion because SA already has the 4 and might not care too much about 8… though with Pop you never know.
I’d love to send them Simons. I’d love to send Simons to any of the teams in the top 5 lol.

In general I’m not too interested in players who aren’t going to be a STRENGTH defensively. Also not thrilled with a negative A/TO ratio given he is supposed to be a “playmaker”.
Given that criteria, Castle is the only wing that would be true for

(Sharpe is similar btw! Wish they would force him to watch Kobe and MJ tape rather than Devin Booker and Zach Lavine).
Is this real? Do you have a source for this?
First that I have heard it

Ant can get us to 8, but not 14 plus the seconds. I think you can get to the Bulls pick by swapping and Brogdon in principle.

7th:

1. Castle
2. Clingan
3. Williams
4. Buzelis
5. Knecht

14th:

1. Williams (trade up)
2. Missi
3. De Silva
4. McCain, Carter or McCuller or Tyson (depends on trades we may/may not make

Avoid: Saluan, Risacher, Ware, Holland (maybe at 14th, idk), Filipowski.

Over/Under on when the first , “….insert #7’s name here…… Is A Bust!” thread will be created? Cause if you thought SCOOT was a bust….wait til you see this kid sitting on the end of the bench guarding the GATORADE.

That's why I'm ok with getting the 7th pick instead of, say, the 3rd-5th. There's a bit less pressure for that prospect to perform right away

Has Olshey taken control of people’s minds around here? Another 6’3” PG? Argh!
the big draft is next year, or the year after. Maybe one more tank after that. The team is still developing Scoot, Shaedon, and this year's #7. It's ok to overlap development while more picks develop ??

Drafting Bronny James will really help with selling the team to move it to LV where LBJ can own the team his son plays for.

My preference for #7 as of May 13, based on tiers.

1. Risacher

2. Williams / Holland

3. Salaun / Buzelis

4. Castle

Obviously subject to change over the next month after measurements and interviews.

I think the impact of our lottery drop is really minimized by having teams ahead of us most likely selecting guards, leaving wings available in our range.

My thought process changes for 14 based on who we select at 7. I want one high ceiling guy & one high floor guy.

I like Dalton Knecht. At worst, I think he'll be a good Joe Ingles type reserve. But he has more upside than Ingles.

Trade Grant, and see how Toumani does starting at PF in our upcoming "tank" season.

He rebounds well. He blocks shots well. He gets steals. And his three point shooting looks a bit like a typo.

He had an amazing, almost unprecedented, year at Kentucky according to advanced statistics. He would be a pretty poor fit for the Blazers in the next year or two (and/or as long as we have Scoot/Sharpe/Ant all worthy of heavy minutes) but I could see myself supporting the Blazers taking him because his upside is so high, especially if we can scoop up a wing or other guys with size at 14.

Hmm...a bit like the why take Paul when we already have Telfair quandry?

Players are assets and if the next 2 years are tanking years just take the best player. You can always trade any guard. Check out scoring in playoffs most are guards except for Embiid and Jokic and even on their teams small guards were lethal.

A bit, except Chris Paul was a higher draft pick than Telfair had been and a much better prospect.

Scoot was a higher pick than Sheppard is likely to be (and in what is generally perceived as a much stronger draft) and Scott is a clear PG, while Sheppard may be more of a tweener in the back court.

But, yeah, it's a "BPA vs. Need" type of question to a certain degree.

The problem is how hard it can be for guards to come up to speed.

Holland could be a high upside pick at #7. Missi is a guy D69 took some notice of earlier in the year and I'm waiting to see what he thinks about him now. I'm also interested to see what Salaun's actual measurements are.

Why is Kel'el Ware not getting more buzz? 16/10/2 blocks on 58/43 from 3. The 3 point shooting stands out even if it is low volume. Only 20 years old and GREAT measureables:

Reed looks like a good prospect. But it would be our 4th iteration of trying a small backcourt if we paired him with Scoot. Dame/CJ Dame/Simons Scoot/Simons Scoot/Reed...

Lethargic.
Gives up on plays.
Doesn't play like he actually loves BBall.
