Just dreaming but, what if Cashman called the new GM out in Seattle and said "Wanna take 25 million off your 2016 Payroll and whatever is left. I would love Cano back for only money and a A or AA player. Not going to happen, but would you be for it or against it in theory?

Cashman would trade Severino, get Cano, and brag about how he fleeced Seattle into picking up 100 K per year of Canos remaining deal. Sound ridiculous, maybe but with Cashman anything is possible. For real, Cano made his choice, turned out to be a bad one. In time he'll be screaming to get out of Seattle like Reyes is crying to get out of Colorado.

no way, jose. keep him on the other coast.

Exactly my point, we give the Mariners no top prospects but assume the debt on contract. Who really doesn't want Cano if money was no object, he is back up over 280 and would benefit from Yankee Stadium. I know it was ugly but he got his money, just as Jeter did, Arod twice, Tex, CC and the list goes on. You don't let your best player walk.

Honestly, I don't want Cano back, Let him suffer in Seattle.

I saw that Cano signing, all skinnin' and grinning, Cano thought he wes getting over, GM JZ looking like the last of the Great Train Robbers, and of course newly appointed (self) Jay Z taking care of his man Cano and laughing all the way to the bank. Yep that old honky Girardi was "disrespectful" and now your bro Lloyd will do the Ben E King and "Stand by Me" Newsflash, GM JZ is gone, and no doubt McClendon will be as well. So Robbie you missed out on all those NYC endorsements you could have had and will be with a team going nowhere. As they say at Burger King "have it your way".

OK, your're right. Bad idea, especially that Drew his hitting above 200

I get what your trying to say Frank but he wanted to be greedy and now is bitching how far away he is from the Dominican Republic. So settle for a little less money. You will never spend it in your lifetime anyway. Btw I just found out Wings and Weenies deliver!

...Cano will be 33 years old in October and will soon start to decline, if he has not done so already, so unless Seattle paid at least 1/2 of his remaining 8 years of salary, there's no way I'd wanna take on that contract.

I agree Ron. Btw Jake Arrieta is pitching a no no in the 8th against the Dodgers.

Actually you're right, Drew is pretty sorry and the fact that is with this team in on Cashman. I hoped that the Yankees would have kept Refsnyder and did anything to include DFA Drew. Eery time that guy comes to the plate I shudder. The man reminds me of my old buddy Bobby Meecham who used to be my least favorite player.

Lmao I forgot the Dodgers got no hit last week.... That's twice in 9 days.

Although not at that money but if we got seattle to give us the deal we got with texas for a-rod where the rich mariners pay half of cano's salary I'd take him back at 12.5 per

^^^hell yeah...that would equate to only 1 year longer, but still $75 Mil less than the Yanx originally offered him before he took the Seattle deal.

Back when Cano was receiving his offered his contract I think the general consensus on this board was around 100 mil and not much more than 5 years. I can't remember what the Yankees final offer was. Even if Seattle offered 12.5 million a year he'll still be in Arod, CC, and Tex age range when through. I still stand, Cano took the deal, why bring him back, we all hate Drew fine, bring up Refsyder and let him boogie woogie.

What he said^^^^^

...let me preface this by saying that this is all pure conjecture and spit-balling about Cano coming back, it's not gonna happen.

...But I have to believe that Cano still has 4-5 years left of good production with the bat, maybe more. And if he could have been had for 5 years/$100 Mil, all of uswould have signed up for that back in 2014.
...And that's basically how it would break down if Seattle were to eat 1/2 of his contract. Who cares about the 6-7-8th years if you still get very good offensive production and defense from the first 5 years?

...ARod, CC, and Tex all make $20-$25 Mil per year (much more than $12.5 Mil)...fwiw, the Yanx offered Cano 7 years/ $175 Mil.

The one lesson Cano failed to learn or overlooked is the fact when one is a big kahuna on a team like the Yankees the love or notoriety never departs. By electing to leave the Yankees he tossed that bennie right in the trash can. We 've seen Bird and Sevey come on board, let that parade continue.

...and again, Cano is not coming back to the Yanx...but if he were, is there anyone who seriously thinks Refsnyder will ever be anywhere near the offensive and defensive player Cano is?

Absolutely Not, a fact that Cano would be hard to replace but the Yankees needed to take action . Roberts and Drew were poor actions number 1 and 2 so lets give Refsnyder a chance. In the case of Drew I haven't had such disdain for a Yankee Player since Meecham. Even ESPN articles have claimed that Drew is the most hated man in the Bronx.

As you said Ron, it'll never happen but if by some chance Seattle would cover 1/3rd or 1/2 I'd take him.
