If Henderson is suddenly a starter for us then we're as sad and boring as the fucking Charlotte Hornets. He's the very picture of slightly below average NBA player. of course, that makes him way better than the last player Olshey traded for.
Well you play him and CJ 24 minutes a game at SG.

Crabbe is the current #1 SF, no?

Wonder what the rush was to do this now instead of waiting til the draft is over. Timing definitely interesting

Yeah, it's not like a pick was included. Unless we're planning on moving one or both somewhere else with our #23.

Can we trade Vonleh? What if some team in the top 10 wants Vonleh and we package him with our pick?

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, the Trail Blazers have made their first move of what is sure to be a busy offseason on the eve of the 2015 NBA Draft, sending small forward Nicolas Batum to the Charlotte Hornetsin exchange for Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh.

Henderson, a 6-5 shooting guard who spent his first six seasons in Charlotte, started 72 games for the Hornets last season, averaging 12.1 points on 44 percent shooting from the field and 33 percent shooting from three, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in just under 30 minutes a night. He boasts career averages of 12.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Vonleh just finished a rookie season in which played in just 25 games, averaging 3.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in just over 10 minutes a game. Selected with the ninth overall pick in last year’s draft, the 6-10 power forward out of Indiana doesn’t turn 20 until August.

The trade brings an end to Batum’s career in Portland, which started when the Trail Blazers acquired the 6-9 Frenchman from the Houston Rockets in a three-team trade during the 2008 Draft.

Wojnarkowski’s initial report also came with an interesting addendum …

More to come …

I hate this shit.

Agents are unfortunately a necessary evil in all this

Also reps DWright and Rolo

Great deal. Henderson is a baller that knows his role in a system. He's also a cheap expiring contract without any risk.

I'm really encouraged to see management being able to make trades that make basketball sense without being too risk-adverse.

Henderson isn't Batum but he actually is 90% of him when you talk pure numbers. And he plays more SG but can play SF. I might be coming around a little on this deal. It all depends on if Vonleh pans out though. He makes or breaks the deal obviously.

Henderson is pretty underwhelming. But with the prospect of possibly losing both Wes and Arron, we needed some insurance. Also, makes more room to sign one of Wes or Arron, if that's the direction we're going.

None of us know what direction we're going, but we are definitely not done, so this is pretty exciting.

"IF" Vonleh is a Blazer for more than a few days, this does smell a bit like a possible moving up in the draft move

Yup. The timing is interesting. Maybe some team in the top 10 likes Vonleh so neil went and got him and will package our pick with him to move up

for 6 mil and only one season left on his contract that is pretty decent SG insurance

I not sure the (say) 5th pick would be any better than Vonleh. Either way it would take 2 more years (maybe at least) to find out if either works.

Vonleh has the potential to be an impact defender off the bench. Poor man's Draymond Green maybe? The Hornets were getting A+ ratings for drafting him last summer.

No questioning Henderson’s BB skills, just questioning how his skills fit into Stotts’ perimeter system, which is not Henderson’s game.
