I'd gladly pay Dame that money provided he used some of it as a down payment on the franchise from Jody....found some investors in the Snoop Dog circle he hangs in and get it done....I'd love to see Dame end his career as part owner of the franchise one day....go all in and let him lead. Dame Dolla knows people with deep pockets.

I had a boss once who left a fulltime position unfilled, continuing to use a temp in it for months. The temp wanted the job and they continued to have the temp do it but wouldn't commit to the temp even after nine months. I finally asked them why they didn't just hire the temp. We'd like to get the perfect candidate, but the perfect candidate isn't coming for this position, and we might be getting farther away from the absolute best candidate we can get by looking disloyal to someone whose job we've been so satisfied with that we haven't hired someone to fill the position unless they were "perfect."

It's supply and demand. The Sixers can want the farm for Simmons, but if no one wants to sell the farm for him, are they OK with letting him sit out a prime year for Embiid where they could make a run at the NBA finals just because they can't get the perfect deal? Is the Sixer fanbase OK with it?
 
I was listening to Justin Termini and Eddie Johnson today. They were talking about this topic today on Sirius XM. Their opinion was dame really wants out of Portland and is being strategic about this. Saying that Dame is not the kind of guy to come out and request a trade but also knows he’s not getting a super max contract like this at this point in his career.

I know you're just a troll but LeBron has always taken the biggest contract that he could get that allowed him to control the next big contract that he can get because while these guys are great competitors and love the game... this is a business. Lebron only took like $16 million per year on the heat. He could have gotten much more on different teams but the Big 3 all agreed to a salary reduction in order to win.

“this is a business” is a stupid argument. 99% of players have taken a pay reduction in order to increase their competitive chances at winning a championship. Dirk Nowitski passed up 8 figure payments to stay on the Mavs. There’s numerous examples of forgoing money to win among elite players.

You’re just carrying the jock strap of one of the rare sorts of money-obsessed asshole who makes it all about money, like making $400 million instead of $410 million is the end of the world.

You worship a fraud who destroyed your city’s franchise for 2+ decades. It’s a very “Portland” thing to do.
