This World Cup is a big FU to all those who love Tiki-Taka. Only three teams averaged more then 65% possession in the group stage, Germany, Spain, and Argentina; all three are now out. The winning theory for this World Cup so far, is the more possession you have, the more chance you have of making a mistake, and opening yourself up to being hit on the counter.

Yep--3-on-4 on the run attacks seem to be a lot more effective than 10-man offensive sets. Seems to be best to play for the counter and try to generate a run-out.

Their defenders could stand to watch a bit of NBA basketball. When you're defending a 2-on-3 fast break, you can't just ball-watch. You have to match up defensively on the trailers and box out for the rebound. Both goals came about because they don't do that.
