England has a pretty clear path to the final. I really hope they make it. It would be really difficult for them to beat Brazil though. Maybe France will take them out in the semis?

As an aside, really enjoy hearing a local guy doing the broadcast. I remembered John Strong from Canzano's radio show back in the day; I didn't realize that he had made it to the top of the heap in terms of American soccer broadcasting.

Neymar should have had a penalty when he was pushed in the back, could have made it 2-2; but he didn't get it because of his reputation. His constant flopping throughout this World Cup has cost his country a shot at ultimate glory.

Wow, through to the semi-finals for only the third time in history...

Two words describe the run this England team has had: "workmanlike" and "lucky". But we do appear to have a world class player: Jordan Pickford.

If England make it to the final, it'll be only the second time this world cup they've faced a higher-ranked team than them. And it might well be the team that rested all its best players and still beat them 1-0 (in a game both teams were trying to lose).

Just went back and re-watched the 1990 semi-final against (West) Germany. I forgot that their goal was a fluke deflection off Parker. Fuck it, we deserve some luck.
