Yeah. Most of these dunks were boring, unoriginal, and just mundane.

That was Nate's "A" game?

I re-watched the 2000 contest last night. That was a mistake...

I was never really a big fan of props and gimmicks but damn, if a contest ever needed them it was this years...

I would say the players in the NBA today are unoriginal as a whole. How many flashy dunks do we even see in regular gameplay anymore? I don't know if it's because the players are afraid of missing the dunk, or if they just don't care anymore, but the days of Nique and Jordan are gone.

That bad? The dunk contest has been running on fumes for years.

They should replace it with a one on one contest.

What else could the NBA add to the Weekend?

They should add a 2-on-2 event, NBA Jam-style where the players can deck each other.

What's amazing is when they talk to VC and he's like "I've never tried that dunk before" or "I just decided to try that one right now." Most players couldn't do what he did even if they practiced for weeks.

The guy who presented the trophy, aka, AIR UP THERE, is absolutely sick. I wish some team would give him and James White 10 day contracts just so they can participate in the contest.

Here are some videos:

Blazer draft pick James White has the most impressive hang time I've ever seen. Wow!

One problem is that you probably run out of (interesting) things to do. The stuff Jordan and Nique did, while exciting then, would elicit yawns today. I think the dunk contest has probably moved past its expiration date. The best chances for awe-inspiring dunks are in game play, where teammates hook up on something special. Something that may not seem impressive on an empty court, but looks spectacular over defense.

This year was just embarrassing....Shannons first dunk attempt he missed had potential but then he just bailed on it and did some wussy shit

So he pulled a Laker you mean?

;)

On a serious note, I actually was looking forward to his dunks. It's like no one really wanted to be in the dunk contest after they missed their first one. I bet some of them didn't care because LeBron changed his mind about participating.

Man.... I sometimes forget how exciting Carter and Francis were. It's really too bad how far Francis fell in terms of ability.
