Honestly, we did not play that bad.
We had many more points in the paint, 25 more I believe.
The refs gave them and-1's, while we got just abused.
This is why the NBA will never be popular as the NFL, the refs take over too often.
Yes, I blame this one 100% on the refs. It was a close game in the 1st half, but we couldn't overcome the horrible calls.
I thought shaq used to get calls, shit Yao is the master of working the refs. You sneeze on him and TWEET.
I really hope we get new refs who call it both ways.
I mean, we really went to the hoop a lot, yet shot 20 less free throws, while having 25 more PIP..uhhh something is wrong there, esp when we are constantly in the penalty with 8 mins to go in a quarter.
Bull Shit.
Fuck you Stern.

i dont agree with we went to the hoop a lot. in the first quarter we did but they didnt call them so they stopped. you gotta keep driving. but i agree everytime we were trying to make a run the refs would take us out of it...i dont blame them for the game, but something needs to be done about scola guarding aldridge, or let joel and greg guard yao like that.

yes, keep driving and get abused, thats how you get hurt.
we had over 50 points in paint, we were being aggressive..the refs decided this game by halftime

You lost by a margin of 27 points. You sucked. It had nothing to do with Stern, the refs, or Oden's grandmother.

mas were you at the game or watching on tv?

but something needs to be done about scola guarding aldridge,

In the first half Scola was literally pushing LMA with 2 hands as defense.*

Very frustrating seeing foul after foul down the other end.

*I am not blaming the refs for this loss.

Although I agree there was bad reffing, you can't use that as an excuse for the loss. You have to give credit to the Rockets for the way they played. Dont take that credit away from them and use the refs as an excuse for a 27 point loss. The Blazers just played bad. Deal with it. Dont make excuses.

at the game

you know its bad when the masses chant "these refs suck" over and over and over
I esp. love the play where artest falls on top of roy when he has the ball, roy is down for 5 minutes, but no call

was it poorly officiated? sure but the refs in no way cost us this game. the refs didn't come out looking lost on offense and caused us to be trailing 11-2 and out of the game. the nba has it fair share of refs tampering with games but if we're going to cry about losing to houston i shudder to think what you'd be saying if we meet LA in the next round.

i ask that because i had a friend at the game and he texted me mulitple times asking about calls and i think on replays the calls weren't as bad as watching them in person. not the best officiated game but when you are down 30+ pretty much the entire second half, it sounds very petty to be blaming the refs.

houston kicked our asses and hopefully the guys have a good couple practices and come out ready to play on tuesday because they weren't ready tonight.

I could fuckin shoot 60% from the field too if the other team couldn't touch me on D...the game got away in the 1st half when houston kept getting cheap and1's and we got jack shit on our drives, this slowly kept happening an the lead kept increasing. I just wanted a fairly called game, thats all.

LOL it was funny how Roy was just sitting there chilling the whole time, and then got up as if nothing happened.

But seriously, refs can't always be perfect. There were some bad calls against the Rockets also.

E X C U S E S

Blazers just dont match up well with this team. Its that simple.

You guys need to stop bitching. It's just 1 game, with many more to be played. Stop crying over 1 game. Bad calls both ways..

or you could just GTFO the BLAZERS board..what the FUCK do you expect here? You shot 20 more free throws midway through the 4th and we had MORE points in the paint? Explain that to me howdy?!

Lol. I didnt ref the game man, calm down. Blazers lost, end of story. Just look forward to changes in Game 2.

Please, you don't believe that. You've admitted in these threads your team benefitted from the officiating - and there's no arguing otherwise. That decided, we can bitch all we want, thanks. GFY. :ghoti:

HOU got more calls but not completely over the top like some have claimed.

You cant blame refs when you lose by the margin the Blazers lost by tonight

20+ point lost any day can't be blamed on the refs....Houston was just the better team tonight.

No refs have ever beaten a team by 27. Portland would have lost either way. If anything, Portland should understand just how much more effort they need to put into the next game, and if it was called unfairly, and gets called fairly the next game, the effort that would be enough to win despite such circumstances would be overkill.

Some of you people really do not unerstand the game do ya?!
Do you not understand that once the refs have set the tone for the game, theres nothing to do. We tried to come back, we went to the hole, no calls. Joel battles for position and its ft's for yao b/c we were in the penalty with 6 min to go in every quarter.
Its hard enough to come back 15 on a playoff team, but when you CAN NOT play the same style of D as the opposition, you have NO CHANCE. That line was drawn early on in the game..what else could the Blazers do?
Yes Houston shot the lights out and we shot only 40 some percent, but the tone of the game showed major favoritism to Houston.
Perfect example..Blake shoots a 3 in the 1st, gets ran into as he's releasing it..no call..Roy stumbles into Battier 3 seconds after he shot (didn't really touch him either mind you) and TWEET.
You know what, maybe we don't win tonight the way both teams payed, but it would have been much closer, which I would have preferred.

Toko's got the bottomline.

Yeah, if you want to play the ref card, you could say having the differential in fouls, and the way it was called made it tougher on the Blazers, but when the game ended the difference was only 10 in free throws attempted. We got smashed tonight. The Rockets shot lights out, and Roy was the only one to show up until Oden made an appearance in the second half after it was over. Blaming the officials is just a cop out for not getting it done. You don't control the officials as an athlete. You control your own game, and they didn't perform the way they needed to.

The refs didn't let Houston shoot 80 plus percent in the first quarter. Our defense was horrid, and the Rockets were simply on fire the whole game. I don't like using the ref excuse when we clearly looked outmatched by a veteran squad, and got beat by essentially 30 points. None our guys, outside of Brandon and Greg, came to play.

Blaming the refs is very weak on our parts. Man up and defy the odds. It's the playoffs, not intramurals.

Nah, or you could stfu with the trash talking and watch the game more carefully and maybe in slow-mo. Rockets out hustled Blazers, hence why they got more free-throws AND 14 more total rebounds in the game. And about 10 of those points in the paint were from Greg Oden, the easy dunks and the layups (including an and1 layup) - which was pretty much the only contested one and he squeezed 3 points out of that.

oh, and yea .. howdy.

Just like Antonio said on 95.5 fm. You can't blame the refs for this one. The more aggressive team was Houston tonight and ended up getting the calls. Outlaw and LA were awful tonight. Lots of video tape will be in the works the next few days.

Rockets fans have been making the exact same complaint with Yao for years. The calls probably favored the Rockets in game 1, but that should even out over the course of a 7-game series as long as both teams are committed to playing aggressively. That's the nature of the playoffs: the more physical, aggressive team will be allowed to play.
