Quick has hinted at a trade that sounds suspiciously like this:
LaFrentz contract + Outlaw + Sergio for Deng and Hinrich

Let's say it actually is (even though that's probably unlikely) would you be in favor of it?

I'm torn - I like Deng and I like Hinrich's defense, and both of them have been playing pretty well since they came back from injury. BUT: we'd be getting rid of Rudy's best friend and Roy's best friend (and sort of the team mascot, whom everybody likes) for two rather quiet types. Who have big contracts. And are neither of them ever likely to be all-stars. So I say no.

Risky.

Hinrich is a good defender, but hasn't brought much else in terms of scoring etc. Deng has potential, but why the big fall off. Is he capped? His numbers aren't really much different than Travis's.

If they were so go they why is Chicago so bad? Only time would tell.

I certainly like Deng more than Hinrich.

I voted "Yes" because I think that the odds of either Hinrich or Deng becoming a "plus" starter for the Blazers is much better than either Outlaw or Sergio doing the same.

Ed O.

Definitely. Since I never expected Caron Butler and since Gerald Wallace seems to be unlikely, I'm not really that hopeful that RLEC will be turned into an impact player. Therefore, I wouldn't mind gambling that Deng can turn back into an impact player. He's regressed badly this season, but Bulls fans have been saying that Del Negro has been using him poorly. Hinrich I'm sure will never be the Hinrich of a few years ago, but he's a slight upgrade on Blake on offense and a big upgrade on Blake on defense. So this deal would strengthen our point guard position and give Portland the chance at a good, young small forward.

I consider that a good proposition.

I voted no, because I think that the Butler deal is out there, and I also think an insurance paid Raef contract is worth a lot. I prefer multiple ordinary player for star level player deals. This is not that.

I say yes. Deng I think will make a comeback, and on a different team, he may end up being quite a good player again. He would be an immediate upgrade at SF and then in the future, whoever is better between Webster, Batum and Deng can win the starting spot and the Blazers would still have some nice trading pieces. Getting Hinrich is a slight upgrade over Blake on O, but on D he could really help take some pressure off Roy. Also, I see Bayless as the future PG and I would rather him learn D from KH than Blake. As far as losing Outlaw and Sergio, I think it would hurt some, but this is a business and we cant keep players around cause they are friends of other players. Losing Sergio would not be a big deal at all. Losing Outlaw would hurt a little bit more, but I think Deng, LMA, Batum, and the returning Webster will be able to cover for him and then some.

No. Butler, Carter, Salmons, Jefferson, McGrady are all better than those two together.

Exhaust other options first before resorting to this deal.

i think Deng could be very good again. he was once and i dont think most would say it was a fluke. sometimes guys just get in bad situations (like Chicago) and play poorly. it wouldnt be the first time we saw a basketball player look completely different on a new team.

he's young, high character guy and would probably excel in Portland. Im not sure he needs the ball to be effective, whereas I think Outlaw certainly does.

Heinrich has been on KP's rumor radar for years, plus he's a former Jayhawk.

in the end, does the team feel that Outlaw is the everyday answer at the SF position? I cant see why not, but I can also see the allure of Deng. Plus they're getting a real nice price on Outlaw.

Sorry to break it to you, but it would be Kirk Hinrich and Andres Nocioni if the rumor is about Chicago. Given Deng's recent play, there is no way Paxson is trading him for an expiring contract.

I would like Butler a lot more but would think this would be good trade for the Blazers. If Deng wasn't in the trade I wouldn't do it just for Hinrich and Noc.

like i said in the quick thread.....

getting kirk kills bayless playing time. right now he will still play even when blake comes back depending on whether we need offense or not. it also leaves us thin at the PF spot since thats where outlaw will go once web comes back.

THAT IS why I suggested the deal quick could be talking about IS (and it works)...

Butler, Sanglia, throw in FOR Outlaw, Sergio, and Raef

Blake/Bayless
Roy/Rudy
Butler/Webster?Batum
LA/Sanglia/Frye/Randolph
Oden/Pryz

I think the wiz want to be under the cap.... and i've read few times butler is very available

Washington laughs their ass off.

If Deng could get back to what he was, he'd be the real gem in this trade. And since that game against us awhile back, he's really turned it on and had some great games.
He'd be a great SF for us if he can stay healthy.

Hinrich.... I'm not really too high on though.

why do they laugh? They wanna cap space...they are getting it. They are getting a PG whos better tehn anyone on their roster besides arenas who can play the 2. outlaw could start the rest of the season and be a decent backup.

lets see a better offer. dont be shocked if it goes down. it really fits everything we need except pg

If Deng is not in the deal, neither are the Blazers.

I would like Butler a lot more but would think this would be good trade for the Blazers. If Deng wasn't in the trade I wouldn't do it just for Hinrich and Noc.

You'd be wise to pass on Hinrich+Nocioni (which is what the package would be, no way Bulls are trading Deng in this type of trade). Kirk Hinrich had one really good year, and otherwise has been an inefficient scorer, and just solid on defense.

Nocioni was really great in his first two seasons. Emerged as one of the team's leaders in 05-06 along with Gordon and Hinrich, helping lead the team to the playoffs.

Then in 06-07, the Bulls evolved into a team built around Hinrich/Gordon/Deng, with Nocioni as the fourth banana. Nocioni was scoring at a great efficient that year, but the team still got better when he went down with his injury. The past two years, he has evolved into a chucker that doesn't play defense.

But both Hinrich and Nocioni for some reason appear to have decent trade value and great interest around the league. If the Bulls can rid themselves of both in one trade, then that would be terrific. It would pave the way towards re-signing Ben Gordon and becoming a player in 2010 free agency.

hes an idiot...its a very real chance.

really think about this trade from both sides....it fits so well.

i mean this gives the wiz 2 players with potential who are already decent nba players with growing room (maybe not travis lol) but dont tell anyone.

for us it solves backup PF and Starting SF....

Also gives bayless the backup role

why do they laugh? They wanna cap space...they are getting it.

They want cap space instead of the overpaid players on their roster, not instead of their correctly-paid young-prime star. Teams want cap space to GET players like Caron Butler...they don't trade players like Caron Butler to get cap space. That simply makes no sense.

i'd trade maybe, kop and a first rounder. and then call it a deal

raef serg outlaw kop 1st rounder and cash

butler songalia dixon 2nd rounder

So you really think Deng -- who is a very good player, but probably not a "star" -- is untouchable when he's making 10 million this year and is on an escalating contract for the next six years? I'm not saying he's absolutely attainable, but in this economy and considering the state of affairs the Bulls are in (wanting to be players in the 2010 FA sweepstakes) shedding Hinrich and Deng frees up roughly 20 million off of their books ... If a team made the right offer (not necessarily the Blazers) I have to think Paxon would have to think long and hard about it.

If I was POR I would do that in a heartbeat...I have no idea if I would want to do it if I was CHI because I dont care to research their situation

To be a player in 2010 free agency, Bulls need something to sell to the players. Rose/Gordon/Deng at the 1-3 spots is something to sell him.

It's not that Deng's untouchable, he's just not going to be part of a salary dump. If the Raptors or Suns wanted to do something with the Bulls regarding Chris Nosh or Amare Stoudemire, I'm sure the Bulls would begin putting a package around Deng, maybe throwing Sefolosha, maybe Gooden's expiring, or Thomas/Noah. There's just no way the Bulls would give up Deng for Raef's expiring (when they're giving up Hinrich already, who they overvalue in the Bulls front office) and the Blazers crap.

Though I think both Deng and Kirk would be the best guy at their spot on Portland, I passed as I'd hope the club could do better. The upgrade/upside isn't significant enough to outweigh the injury concerns and huge contracts.

STOMP

I would do that deal in a heartbeat. I don't see sergio fitting in with this team and Outlaw just seems to be the odd man out. I like Outlaw a lot but idk, there is just something iffy there. Getting Deng and Kirk would be awesome IMO. I think they both would fit in well here.

Deng is back.
