Rondo's getting pissed off with constantly being shopped by Ainge. Apart from Aldridge, who is our franchise player, Batum is the only piece we have that might tempt the Celtics. Suppose the Celtics offered Rondo for Felton + Batum. Would you say yes?

I don't think Nate's offense works well when his PG can't shoot.

Cue mm....

I'm a huge Rondo fan (he's one of my fave non-Blazers) but I'd be seriously torn. Having watched Batum improve over the Summer and at Nancy... he could be ready to break out.

Or, he could remain maddeningly inconsistent.

I'd see if they'd bite on a Wes/Wallace/Felton type of package first.

Rondo/Batum backcourt would be quite awesome.

Why does a smart organization like Boston want to get rid of him? That scares me a little, because you can see his talent. How bad is his attitude?

Apparently he's an asshole.

I attribute that to his surroundings.

PS

If they didn't like that package I'd put together a package that included Batum but I'd do it like this:

No way. Batum is more talented that Rondo.

PG: Rondo
SG: Batum
SF: TBD
PF: Aldridge
C: Oden/Freeland

And the Blazers are back.

Of course, Boston will likely tell us to fuck off. But you have to try!

I'm really torn. If personalities were not included, I would do the trade, but we would be sending out one of the best TEAM oriented players for someone who is known to be an egotistical pain in the ass who can't shoot. But I think talent wins out, and just by a hair, I would do the deal.

Unless we got a real good deal I'd rather go with what we got and see what happens, lets give Ray a shot for a yr and see what he can do.

Lets see our bench would be even worse (do we have one? lol) and we have no SF and how in heck do you get Freeland here - maybe next yr, and you like it? No thanks, rather go what we have and maybe add Landry.

It's about upgrading talent.

The gap between Rondo and Felton is significant.

Yeah they'd bite all right and do the deal on the spot if we were that stupid. This is absolutely friggin insane givin up THREE starters for fukkin Rondo - take the night off! You gut the team for a PG that can't shoot. yeah he's good but no way nearly that good and just why is Boston possibly delaing him?

I gut the team for an elite playmaker and defender.

I take Rondo to be like Andre Miller - kind of quiet, a bit of a loner. But he does not suffer fools gladly. I think it's a good sign that he and Perk are so tight, because Perk is another one like Rasheed who's all scowls on the court but devoted family man off the court. And the man comes to PLAY in the playoffs.

Rethinking, just torn.

I mean, if Oden is healthy, I think a combo of Batum and felton would be a better match, they could stretch the floor and make teams really pay for collapsing on Oden and Aldridge. However, I don't trust that Oden will stay healthy.

Both Batum and ROndo good on D, well, Rondo is great on D, and Batum is good. So on the Defensive end, even if Oden is healthy, I think the Rondo trade could be good. Rondo (excellent), Wes (above average), Wallace (above average), Aldridge (Excellent) and Oden (Good - would be upgraded to excellent if he could get his fouling under control). That's the best defensive starting 5 in the NBA.

you did see who he's trading right? Wes-Felton-Wallace for Rondo, a resounding NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I would trade batum for Rondo. If possible i'd like to keep him and Aldridge but if that wouldn't be possible than I'd be willing to give up batum. But I feel like we would need to change some things offensively to utilize rondo better.

That's not the original trade proposed nor the one I was responding to. In the OP, is says Felton + Batum for Rondo. Wes and Wallace were not included.

Obviously that wouldn't be the entire package. It doesn't come close to working under the cap, we'd have to bring in a third team as Boston lacks assets outside their four core players.

Okay, he had the one I mentioned on another trade, The Felton/Batum trade is reasonable - just depends on how one values Felton and Rondo and Nic this yr is definately an X factor - he could blow up. Personally I don't do it.

well if all they added was "filler" it's a very bad trade

I really don't get Ainge. He seems to love fucking with Rondo. He's been trading Rondo practically since his first year and he's always pretty lukewarm about him. Rondo has been, in the circumstances, incredibly loyal, always saying he wants to stay with the Celtics, and he signed for a very reasonable amount.

Perhaps the worry is that the "big three" are going to be gone soon, and they're the only ones keeping him in line, because Doc Rivers said Rondo was at his jerkiest his rookie year because he was surrounded by scrubs and it drove him berserk.

(You'd think Ainge of all people would respect a jerky player who lays it all out there...)

As one of the biggest supporters of Nic on this board, I would whole heartedly support giving up Nic to get Rondo. It would hurt, but Rajon is just a far better player.

If Ainge is shopping him, there's a convincing reason for him to do so.

I pass.

The Blazers haven't had a PG of his caliber since ....Strickland?
