Revisiting this question, anyone change their mind? I'm starting to come around to the fact that there's a good chance we're losing that pick. This is such a strange season. It's not so much that we're over-achieving as it's that the west is under achieving. Everyone thought that Utah would take a big step forward this year, but they're still pretty crappy. The Jazz and the Pelicans have been huge disappointments. People talk about how great Anthony Davis is, but he can't seem to elevate that team at all. He's nowhere near the same level as a LeBron or a Chris Paul (in his younger days).

I mean, Dame is great, but LeBron basically elevated that crappy Cavs team to the Finals by himself. CP3 got the Hornets into the WCF in his first couple years and that roster was sad. Davis can't even get his team into the top 8 right now, and it's a down year for the west.

I think as with any trade, and I know it's kind of a cop out answer, but it all depends on the cost. I'm perfectly happy to make a trade to push for the playoffs. I'm also content with allowing the guys we have out there to make that push, and win or lose with what we got.

I don't know who might be currently available, that could potentially both fit our timeline, and help us out more this year I don't know who might be available that would be worth the potential missed minutes of a currently developing player(trading for Brook, taking away minutes from Leonard and Plumlee, trading for a better PF, taking away developmental minutes from Vonleh, for example). I can see something involving Henderson, where we maybe get a comparable player and an asset of some sort. To Brooklyn for Joe Johnson, Chris McCullough, and rights to Juan Vaulet?
 
I want playoffs every season..if I had a choice, I'd trade the pick for an impact player and go for it. If you watched the Cavs dominate the Spurs last night, you can see that with all the star power in SA, they are completely beatable..Kevin Love destroyed Lamarcus..LA and Ginobli were horrible..Lamarcus is way slower than last season and he stood and watched Lebron finish layups without raising a hand over and over...sometimes these superstar, max allstar guys are hyped up to be more than they actually are. Kevin Love impressed the hell out of me the last two Cavs games..he has mastered 3 out of the four main skills in basketball..shooting, passing, rebounding....number 4 is defense as we know. He owned Lamarcus all night. There are a lot of teams with good players that are losing and that's a good place to look for a trading partner. Win win...playoffs or lottery...I watched a bunch of college games this week and still didn't see any impact players unless they had mismatches...college ball is just full of guys who will never play an NBA game

It seems like we haven't heard anything about Brook Lopez, so I'm not sure where any of that came from. He's the kind of guy that would help give us that push though.

Rudy Gay is supposedly available, but that guy has been on 3 teams and he usually outstays his welcome after two years. I think small forward is a good spot to target though.
 
I'd love to see what it would take to pry Kyle Korver from the Hawks..if ever there was a player who fit Stotts system, it's him

You're not going to get a team that's in the playoff hunt to give up a key piece.

They're starting to lose...Henderson is a few years younger and they need a backup center like Kaman if they are a contender in the east. They don't look the same since Carrol went to Toronto
and they have been rumored to have Teague on the trading block as well

Don't want him. If Sac was willing to give up Gay for basically nothing, I'd take him. He's on a dirt cheap contract for his production.
 
I wanted to bring in Gay this summer before we knew it was going to blow up in our faces. I wouldn't mind bringing him in for a playoff push it he's as cheap as he's said to be though.

I think he'd do a lot better as a third option instead of a first or second like he has been.

I don't want him either...but it's his name I heard instead of Gallinari's
 
Last trade list I read said Hickson, Gay, Teague, Conley, Morris (suns), Barnes, Kevin Martin and Ryan Anderson were being talked about by teams..also said the biggest fish that has played 9 years on the same team and might be ready to bolt is Al Horford. I'd spend serious money to get that guy...I think the Hawks are feeling like last seasons Blazers....they lost a key player and have probably reached their ceiling with this group
 
If ever a guy wanted to follow Uncle Cliffy's plan...it's JJ Hickson..he lives in a state where it's legal and has a lot of money...plus he's a bona fide pot head

The power forward spot can be split between Vonleh/Aminu/Davis and the center spot can be split between Plums and Davis.

They're in the playoffs currently,but they're not a real threat. With their current core, they're going nowhere.

Meyers Leonard for Zach Randolph.

I can't see neil trading Meyers, but it's a thought. Memphis gets a much younger pf to help spread the floor for Marc and Conley. Again, their current core is going nowhere. Time to move on.
Zach gives us our only legit post threat. Give him 20-25 minutes off the bench, take some scoring load off of our backcourt.

I cannot envision any scenario where Rudy Gay pushes this team from where it is to "elite" territory. That looks like a treadmill team to me.
 
I still haven't moved from my position that I"m not at all excited to see the Blazers get destroyed in the 1st round against Golden State.....that said, if we could get up to 7, I would like a shot to upset the Spurs. I think we actually have a shot against them. Anyway. Would suck to lose a 1st round pick.

I like this 1; THIS... just might happen; THIS feels like a Neil-Deal:wink: I like this deal mostly because we'd be for getting Collison :ygrin: I've liked Collison for a long long time & I felt he's been so underrated throughout his career.
 
Im fine with making a move to get in a better position for the playoffs but only if its a move that's good for long term not a short term rental.
I like this team but we arent amazing and what I like about the team is we are seeing some growth from players who are finally figuring out the game. This year to me is all about seeing what these young guys have and how they fit togethor, not about making the playoffs. If we happen to make the playoffs awesome but I dont want to do it at the detrament of playing time to younger players to see who we keep and who we punt at the end of the year.

I do like Collison as a back up PG, but I don't think he would be too happy here with his minutes. CJ has played the point way better than I thought he could and Crabbe needs his minutes at SG. So not much left for Collision.

As for Rudy Gay, I am not sure why he keeps getting moved. If in deed Sac wants to move him. He would be 30 next season, then he has a player option which I am guessing he would take the opt out, as it will be his last chance for big money. He is better than anyone we would get in the draft if we kept our pick, at least for the next 2-3 years until the young rookie develops.

Overall it's not a horrible trade for us if both Gay and Collision's head and heart were into the move. Chances are that both Kaman and Hendo are gone after this year anyways. And if they are not interested in giving Meyers a big contract than they don't have much to lose besides salary cap this summer. (Who is Neil focused on?)

The other thing to consider is how much they like Henderson. Maybe Neil wants to resign him. If he did, that would mean that they think Crabbe's future is at SF. (he has a 6'11 1/4 " wing span) He has a taller standing reach than Harkless does. (8'7 1/2 ")

I would lean away from this trade scenario. But I wouldn't hate it if it happened.
