I remember us all doing something similar, on the old ESPN boards. Our all time Yankee Team....

I'd make a few changes, knowing now what I know-

1-off A-Roid totally from any line up. Put Nettles at 3rd.

2-Send DiMaggio to LF....Release Keeler and Winfield.

3-Remove Matsui and put Donnie BB as the DH....

Not bad....I enjoyed this type of stuff.

They made this list based solely on everyday positions they played. Dimaggio was not known as a Left fielder (only about 60 games) And they also based it on there best seasons at that position which explains why A-Roid got the nod over Nettles.

Yep, I know, I just got to screw with the line up Roster....ya' know...!

Or- Put Ruth on the mound, and send in Ichiro....LOL....maybe Maris in RF, Ruth on the mound...

Then destroy all of A-Roids career MLB records, since he cheats, more than once....!
If I ever have a Grand Son, I can hear it now- "GrandPa how good was that Alex Rodriguez guy as a ball player"....Me: "who, I've never heard of such a person....he didn't play MLB, he was a gummy bear distributor, who tried to play BB"...!

The thing I find sad my friend is that guys like A-Rod, Clemens & Bonds didn't have to cheat. They already had the god given talent, but then they got greedy. Really a shame.

More than a few Billion, because modern medicine would have to learn how to raise the dead....

Your Right ON the Mark Rick.....bullseye my friend....

It's horribly sad, pitiful any great ball player would ruin a HOF career, to squeeze out a couple more GOOD years, or to merely win accolades, trophies, and personal records....

A Crying Shame, it is...!!! NTM-I can't give their damn baseball cards away, well I can, for a buck a piece, and that's an over inflated price, (no one is willing to pay), for cards that once were selling for a few hundred $$$. (when opening them in packs, at about 5-10 cents a piece), but the cards aren't the point, their wrecked/ruined careers are...!

We forgot the Coaching and support Staff:

Bench Coach: Billy Crystal

Bat Boys: The Torturro(sp)- Brothers

Grounds Keeper, Stadium Entertainment, and 5th String CF'er: John Fogerty

Team mascot could always be Joe Girardi in a clown suit. It would fit. Sorry Ron I couldn't resist.

OK, I know I'm a youngin', but for the X-factor aspect, I'd take Brosius in '98 (19/98/300) over Nettles or A-Rod... team 1st kinda guy... and I would lean in the direction of DiMaggio over Mantle, but saw neither play and therefore can't really say... Not really familiar with Keller either... 2nd is tough... Cano has great numbers but is oh so lazy... and I'd take Yogi over Dickey...

We could determine what these HOF greats salary was back then, roll it up into today's dollars, versus then....

However the impossible variable, is, Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, all of them basically, if playing in today's market, would be making far more than their original salaries rolled up into today's dollars. Since back then, the Mick had to hold out just to get 100 grand. Player's with no Free Agency, had to basically take what they were offered, or hold out.

DiMaggio held out for 25 grand. Jim Bouton for 35 grand, Mick for 100 grand. What they could get on the Free Agent market, would definitely surpass a couple or few billion....incredible isn't it...?
