To me, that means nothing. Hundreds of people will die at exactly the same time. One more or less doesn't make any difference.

I view this as a pointless $10,000,000 giveaway.

You are making the decision to kill this person. Taking a life isn't "fucked up?" You can't put a price on life, no matter if it's $10 mil or $100 mil.

Who are you to say what is just though? Morality is a subjective concept that's dictated by a person's upbringing, not a universal truth.

Anyway, don't act so shocked that people would push the button, because I'm sure that a large percentage, maybe even a majority, of our nation who would push the button. Just look at all of our soldiers killing people in Iraq for the paycheck.

Dude, I'm a soldier in Iraq...I don't do it for the paycheck. It's not that we kill for the money, we do it as our duty. The pay just happens. But I'm sure their are some sickos who did join just for the violence...but not as many as you'd think. Alot of us don't even want to be hear and would rather be home with our families, let alone kill people. The extra money we get in no way is worth what we pay in lives or time away from loved ones. I'm currently serving my 3rd deployment and I'm not running around wanting to kill for a paycheck.

Yeah, everyone's different, but I know a lot of my boys from back home whose lives weren't going in the right direction, who needed the money, joined the army to have some money and structure. I'm sure you know people from all ends of the spectrum, from the admirable to those who do it for the job of it, like my boys from back home.
 
Your boys still have an idea of who they're killing. Almost all try not to put innocent people's lives in danger, and have some standards.

Now I'm with you on that, saying that alot of people down and out joining for 3 hots and a cot. It just that the way you put it, said we were killing for the money in Iraq. Hell, were not even supposed to fire unless fired upon or engaged. So to say were getting paid to kill is a lil off. It one thing to say they joined for the money...it's another to say their killing for the money
 
On the basis that there is no heaven or hell, and that all religion is incorrect (opinion), I wtill wouldn't do it because I have morals.
 
What if I press it, and the guy next to me dies? Would I still get my money? Or why dont I just kick that guys ass and steal his money for being a sicko?

So you don't believe in an afterlife, therefore what you do on earth doesn't matter for anything but the present, so why do you care about things such as murder? If it's someone you don't know, and you won't see any repercussions from it, why should you care?
 
I would do it, depending on the person. If it was some innocent person, who was defenseless, and had done nothing wrong, I wouldn't, but if it was some person who had done bad things in the past, and was just a prick in general, then I wouldn't feel so bad about it.
 
But that's where the dilemma lies. This is completly random, you don't get to choose who you want to die, nor do you know if the person that dies is a good person or not. Anyone at all
 
my first reaction is yeah, do it, ppl die such is life.. but I know the guilt associated with the act would eat away and you'd never enjoy the money, so i don't think any amount of money is worth it.
 
Random? No. Petey? Yes! And not for the $10M.

I still have the feeling of right and wrong, and $10m is not a good reason to end someone's life. Also, I want to respect the person I am, and I don't respect murderers. They are cold-hearted evil beings who care of nothing but themselves. You don't have to be religious to have morals, just lots of narrow-minded religious people think you do.
 
People have killed people, over really silly things.

Someone said how do you know if this person finds the cure for cancer, well the same could be argued that all the aborted babies could have been the one to cure it.

One thing a person could do is, though they kill 1 person, with the 10 mill, they could put 1 mill aside to send food and medical resources to a 3rd world country and a thousand lives that would otherwise die from malnutrition and disease.

I would definitely spend my 10 mill on index funds, xbox live, med school, and ostentatious/superficial living

we live in a savage and selfish world, there's no denying that.
 
Well there would be a 99.9999999% chance that it wouldn't be someone you knew. So I don't think you could realistically consider it someone you know.

There is probably a much much greater chance of killing your loved ones by driving them somewhere, or going on a vacation with them, than pressing that button.
