Yes, it's only two preseason games. I get that. I'm wondering, from what you've seen so far, and the encouraging signs from Barton and Crabbe, would you deal Wes for another big man?

Is Meyers further behind where you think he should be?

Is Lopez a starting center?

Is Robinson, Freeland, Meyers, and Claver enough of a bench for our front court?

What would Houston realistically want for Asik?

Depends on who the big is. Depends on if we're including anything else.
Short answer is no. But there are certainly bigs I would trade him for - I just don't think that those teams would swap for Wes.

No. I still think Barton is an out of offense chucker. Crabbe will be more of a role player kind of guy. I don't think either one could start...I'd have to see what McCollum is like.

Lopez is fine for now. T-rob will develop into a good backup PF. LA is a great starting PF. let it bake! :MARIS61:

If anything I'd do a consolidation trade of some of our deep bench for a backup C.

Robinson, Freeland and Claver are enough bench for the PF spot.
But we could use 3 true centers on the team. (We have 2)

I don't think Houston wants to trade Asik........yet.

I think I pretty much agree with you guys. If CJ was still healthy, I would be much more willing to deal Wes, but losing CJ makes Wes more valuable.

I still think it's too early to panic, it's only been two preseason games and we're so damn injured right now, but I am slightly concerned about our frontcourt. Having a healthy Aldridge will certainly help.

I do think we have a lot of depth in the backcourt thoughl, which could be used to bolster our center position.

I'd gladly trade Wes and Leonard for Asik. I think Houston would want more. Wes might be good value talent wise for them but with Harden/Parsons it doesn't make a lot of sense. They'd trade Asik to strengthen their starting unit at the 1 or 4.

I'd trade Leonard if we could get a late first round pick for him; that would be a great value.

I'm concerned about rebounding out of the frontcourt. Lopez is a terrible rebounder, Meyers is nearly as bad and Aldridge is below average.

If the seasons goes south quickly I'd start exploring Aldridge trade ideas. We certainly don't have to trade him but if a team offers fair value with youth or picks like the Jazz got for Deron than we should pull the trigger. Once Aldridge goes Wes and Mo should be dealt within weeks to the highest bidder even if its a poor return. If this team isn't at least an 8th seed than better to tank.

I actually don't think the CJ injury should have any impact on us trading Wes. If we trade Wes it should be to tank; in which case who cares if CJ misses most of his rookie year.

Alternatively if we are a solid playoff team CJ will return in time for the playoffs but we should still keep Wes.

Houston would literally piss themselves with laughter. I'm sure they'd jump at the chance to vastly downgrade their backup C in order to bring in Wes who can compete with Ronnie Brewer and Francisco Garcia for the 8 mpg at backup shooting guard behind James Harden.

I think we have to wait until Dec 15th to trade the new acquisitions, so we will probably get to see the roster play as is currently constructed until that time. Then if we want to tank trade away all the vets; Aldridge, Wes, Mo, and Lopez for whatever we can get. Play all the rookies and get a high lottery pick. Neil has done a good job of giving this team flexibility either way.

Its almost like we are playing for the playoff the first month of the season.

Harden can play backup PG and Wes can play backup 2 or 3 so there are many more minutes than that. I don't think Asik or Dwight can play anything but the 5.

But yes I agree as I said in my post they'd rather keep Asik.

Lopez is going to be an above average center in the league this season. Can't judge anything by preseason.

Yes, we should trade away LMA for scraps and tank...

The season ticket holders deserve it

He had 10 boards in 21 minutes against the Clippers. I don't think Lopez is a "terrible rebounder" as you say, but I'm not sure about his defense.

Add some meat in there then. What about Batum for Asik? With Wright and Claver, wouldn't that trade make the team much better?

That would be something worth considering. I know Houston loves Batum.

If we did that trade, I'd probably move Leonard in another trade.

This isn't a thread about trading Aldridge, or tanking... this is about upgrading our frontcourt.

(1) I don't think the value is out there at the present time. (2) I believe the LMA Lopez/Robinson tandems will work great if we remain healthy. (3) Our frontcourt in the second unit doesn't necessarily need to be as strong in the defensive/rebounding departments as the first.

A chance to win a championship....I agree completely

Gamblers chance

Parsons could be better than Batum as soon as this season.

He could... but Asik is not going to be happy coming off the bench. I would figure they have to move him at some point. Not sure what their asking price is though.

Definitely. I like the balance of that trade. You would lose some strength at the wing positions, but 1, 4 and 5 would be very strong and you would have a lot of shooters to fill out 2 and 3.

Also, Batum can slide up or down a position depending on what is needed. Asik cannot.

Yes, and between Claver, Wright, and even Barton or Crabbe, we have quit a bit of depth at the wing.

I don't see depth. None of those players should see more than 10 minutes besides Wright.

Those guys are buried in the 10-15 spots on a team with real depth.
