Any team can sustain one nutter. I agree it would definitely be a risk, but I think Ron-Ron isn't quite the same perpetual fuck-up that he was in his early twenties ... sometimes people do mellow with age. :dunno:

KP has also stated that bringing in one "nutter" to an otherwise solid club can be done. It's when the "nutters" are the norm and the Przys and Roys are the outsiders that things really go sideways (see Trail Blazers, Portland; 2001-2005)

I didnt know he took a Microphone at the Toyota Center asking for a round of applause for the Blazers... the dude is auditioning for our hearts lol.

Is it official? Has someone started the official "Sign Artest" thread?

Which proves what? That the team is afraid of the witch-hunters at the Oregonian and their amen chorus on O-Live? That was my point! To Hell with Canzano, Quick, and all the other hectoring harridans over there.

It proves that the best young GM in the league thinks you are a joke.

I agree with him.

I gained a lot of respect for Artest in this series - but I still would not want him on this team. Great to see him mature - I would pull for him to get better and win more - but I still would not trust him on this team.

This team might have needed someone to go more rah-rah during the series - but I would like someone that is a bit more consistent and dependable not to flip over the edge when all is said and done. Who knows - maybe JayBay is that guy when he finally gets minutes.

This actually leads me to another path - but as far as getting these guys fired up for the playoffs - don't you think Jarret Jack taking Sergio's minutes would have been an upgrade? I sure do. I can not believe this team would look be so beaten down in game 6 (or 1) if he was still on the roster. Of course - this is not an important thing - since it is clear he would not have been happy getting Sergio's limited minutes - but as far as his presence in the locker room and on the side-line - I think this team missed someone like him...

no. let's not lose sight of why this team is as good as they are and has become so good so quickly.

Since the contract situation isnt updated.. I'm gonna trade for him on NBA 2k9 after work to see how it works out.

Because Brandon Roy elevated his game from top 20 shooting guard in the league to top 3? :dunno:

Now imagine his game without having to face Artest 3-4 times a year plus playoffs.. not to mention Batum learning under him for a while.

Yeah, Brandon proved to me that he is a big time elite playoff scorer in this series ... I mean he's really fucking 'WOW' good! I actually thought about what it would feel like to be a Houston fan knowing that you have the two best wing defenders in the league on your team and he still goes off like that.

There's a lot more to a team that finished with 54 wins (what, tied for 5th best record in the league, share of the division title, and played four gutsy playoff games against a superiorteam) than Brandon Roy.

He's an all-NBA caliber guard, but this team works because of the 10 players and personalities surrounding Roy also.

You need to add another option: "Fuck no, and anyone who thinks so should be horsewhipped!"

I agree. But put it this way, if Brandon (god forbid) had gone out for the season with a knee injury this would have been at best a 30 win team.

Who, after watching this series, doesn't think Artest would be a great asset to Portland. Not only would it make us better, but it would weaken a team that is one of our toughest match ups.

Ron would make us a title contender NEXT year. Great defense, we'd get rebounding from the SF position that we've sorely lacked, and he hits the 3 well. I think he would take our team to a whole new level.

Maybe not. The way the coaching staff develops and finds ways to put players in roles they can excel in, I wouldn't be surprised if rudy moved into brandons role and bayless into rudys role and the team still equalled last years win total.

I get your point though. Let's not ever speak of brandon and season ending injury again. K? :tsktsk:

The 25 point pledge isn't really relevant anymore IMO. Our team is already full of goody-two-shoes. And it's nice to not have a team full of jerks, but I don't think Artest is that bad. This league is not full of goody-two-shoes types, and it's ok to bring a few guys in that are not choir boys.

I just had a thought and it might be the clincher for me when debating in my mind whether Artest would be a good fit or not -- anybody think we'd ever see the Lakeshow try to lay the wood to Rudy or Brandon ever again with a flagrant foul with Artest patrolling the perimeter? I guarantee you people would think twice about the flagrant fouls and bullying if they felt they'd incur the wrath of the hardest muthafuckah in the league.
