Basically speculation that Roy is OCD or just not right in head.

I’m not sure what to think of all this but I will tell you this, if you’re watching Roy lately, just keep an eye out for the tapping and wiping the forehead thing. It goes on even when he’s dribbling the ball. A LOT. And the whole thing of sticking the hands under the jersey happens frequently, too.

I’m sure he’s probably always done some form of these things in the past, but I don’t know it’s been this often. It has no accelerated to the point that if you’re watching for it, it can hypnotize you. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still not in the league of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, whose public battle on NBA courts with Tourette’s Syndrome led to all sorts of uncomfortable mannerisms.

What do these things mean for Roy? I’m not sure they mean anything. But Roy’s significant dropoff in performance is bound to bring a lot of scrutiny. Tender knees or not, the guy has had struggles with things like dribbling the ball, passing and finding open teammates that he never had before — things that don’t necessarily seem knee related. He’s also been pretty puzzling with some of his quotes, too.

And then came the game last night. He “tweaked” the knee again — twice. He certainly didn’t play well and I guess the tweaks could explain that. But he says he’s going to play tonight and sort of passed the knee tweaks off as only something that frightened him a bit.

this is the icing on the cake to an insane season only in december.

i didnt write the damn thing but i could see some points in there. he def has mood swings.

Cool story, bro.

WOW. That's pretty damning. No wonder he saved that as the climax of his story. Roy tweaked his knee...yet is going to play again? And was only a LITTLE frightened?

Not only is that classic OCD, it's also pretty clearly schizophrenic.

The missing miniscus in his knees are actually deep-seated metaphors for the uterus he never had. I'm expecting Roy to miss 5-6 weeks later this season for a transgender operation. We'll all be annoyed that it couldn't wait for the off-season, but sometimes a man has to do what's best for him and his inner woman.

He may never be a star again in the NBA, but in the WNBA he'll be the only player who can dunk.

The only thing I will say is it is not very professional for any person to speculate on the mental state of someone, and essentially spread rumors with their speculation.

Trust me, all of Roy's latest behaviors can be traced back to the moment he partook of wedding cake.

Clearly Jaynes is onto something, he has a comment someone posted to one of his blog posts and an email from a fan as proof. That's enough to buy Roy a ticket on the Crazy Train!

OMG.

Is there ANYONE in the Portland media who isn't a muckraker (now that Smith is gone)?

I can't believe Dwight made that post.

Seriously? WTF.

Dwight has quickly mastered the art of drawing attention and hits to blog posts. I just wonder which of the national writers are going to pick this up and run with it?

Well he did have a kid out of wedlock. He also did partake in a rap video. I think he doesn't join his team for the national anthem as well.

He must be a paranoid schizophrenic.

The good news, if this is true, Roy is now qualified to be a Mod here at S2.

I actually kind of like Dwight, but this is "Canzano" awful.

During his rookie season TNT profiled him during a Blazer game and he talked about dealing with a mental disability that he suffers with and has started some sort of organization to help youth with this condition.

I thought it was probably ADHD/ADD.

Yes I believe it was a learning disability, he mentioned a problem taking his SAT's because it took him longer to understand each question.

I do believe some people have mental issues around here but it isn't Roy. I think a bunch of posters on the board have come down with Blazermania.

Almost every NBA has things they do during the game that are pattern driven. Players are taught to repeat patterns so that things become natural for them. Whatever it is that makes them comfortable is what they need to do.
