Welcome. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this Woke bullshit and the crazies of Portland. I hope you and your wife are both okay. Glad I don't live Portland. But I doubt you'll get much more love here than you did at BE in that regard....many of our members support the rioting, the Woke Disease, and hate the police and pretty much anything that's Right of Chairman Mao. One moderator has even openly expressed his hatred for such people. So good luck.

they’ll eventually turn on him if they haven’t already, shit you’re proof of the latter. The tide on mobbing up to end people without any proof has been shifting for awhile now; it isn’t a sustainable model. Hope that blog goes under, it’s been a dying horse anyway.
 
I got banned from there too and for simply asking why it’s OK that Jody Allen has settled multiple harassment and groping claims but when Coach Billups did the same it means he’s guilty even though the police and DA office investigated it thoroughly and didn’t find enough to even take it to a grand jury.

I’d been there 10 years under a different name without ever even a warning yet that got me banned. Deckard seems to be having some sort of severe meltdown where he is chasing off long-time contributors who don’t even necessarily disagree with the narrative that he’s cemented in his mind.

It’s pretty much been a joke since Ben Golliver, who was the sole talent there, got real journalism jobs but the posters were always fun and knowledgeable when basketball was actually discussed. I don’t consider Deckard or Timmmay! posting an Oregonlive column and then giving their thoughts on it to be riveting, top-notch writing content but I haven’t expected much in that aspect since Golliver got a real job in the industry.

The new writer Dia has some talent and original thoughts along with some writing skills that could develop over time but by then will there be anyone left who actually wants to discuss Blazers basketball? Dave’s purity test over the weekend was fascinating to witness.

It's Performative Allyship

it’s not really about helping when it’s purely performative and not actual volunteering and donations as I and others have done. Instead, it’s egoic, self-centered signaling of superiority. It’s a pox upon the body politic and the country.

People who actually do the work (not just show up for party riots) when it’s not exciting are completely different. Those who pull out their digital soapbox to declare how wounding this is for them, and how terrible people are for not agreeing with their superior position are completely different from people who do the work. There are also people in this specific instance who have been victimized and that too is different. Again a ton of survivors in my personal sphere and I worked with DV survivors for years as a social worker.

I’m just saying as a Social Worker for almost 20 years, nothing annoys me more than Performative Virtue Signalers who never do the work, never stay to continue the work when the excitement ends, but force their way to the microphones, and Bullhorns are just the worst sorts of people.

I'm a Blazer content junkie if there ever was one and I checked out BE before I knew about this place and felt like I'd visited a cult where you needed to wear the grass skirt and eat the bowl of worms before they'd give you the secret handshake....I never got voted off the BE island but I couldn't handle Dave and his disciples that yup yup every brain fart that comes out of his mouth.....I've stayed clear of there for over a decade at least...nobody laughed at my jokes...here at least two people chuckle on occasion .....how else am I supposed to build up a new hour of comedy gold?
