WOW. Roy's a bitch?

Okay I do post in here often and I really think this needs to be a new thread. Especially since I just read things like “Roy’s a bitch”, “Roy needs to change his game”, or “We will never be a good team unless Roy changes the way he plays his game”. But the main thing wrong was calling Roy a bitch.

Seriously, how dare anyone think our problems are solely on Roy? How dare anyone question Roy’s faith in this ball club, just because he speaks out, probably on an opinion of most on the team? Roy is the proven leader of this ball club. It wasn’t like he was a “Darius Miles” that landed some nice contract on potential. The dude single handedly, changed us from “laughing stock” to a team many enjoy watching.

Okay so maybe there are problems so far, but wouldn’t you want a more vocal leader that sees these problems and he wants it to change? Maybe Blake isn’t the right man for the job starting at PG, but look at a team like Memphis, bringing in AI. Clearly AI is a much better player than most playing with him, yet he was released mainly because he was a distraction. Would we still have this distraction if Miller never came to town? I think not. Last season, it’s obvious this was Roy’s team and I suspect nothing changed now. I suspect and even would bet half my income, if you ask Oden, Aldridge, Blake, Webster, Outlaw, Batum, Pryzbilla and even Bayless if Roy has the “team’s best interest in mind” they would definitely agree.

Roy has earned my respect, and he’s not even my favorite player. But without Roy, we may still be the laughing stock of the NBA. I thank God for giving us a Glorious GM in KP, one of the best owners in the NBA (Paul Allen), and for the most part, the best damn fans in the NBA. I may question Nate all the time and other players, but I will never question Roy’s loyalty of the Blazers. I would be more worried of players like Aldridge or Oden bolting if our team is unsuccessful than Roy.

So what if he wants to be at the same level as LJ, Wade and Kobe. I think great players want to be the best. So give his ass a chance to prove he may be just as good or pretty damn close to it. Okay I’m done. Sorry for my rant.

Mags, you go from one to the pendulum to the other in your posts. Your opinion changes daily on certain things. I don't know If I have read a concrete take from you on anything specific.

Having said that, Roy as I said in a previous post, is not perfect. With as great as he is, even he get's it wrong time to time. One of the problems right now is that his ego is not check and it's not being managed. I feel Roy is wrong right now and has been from day one of training camp. One of the very few times I felt this way about him. But I do now and i do feel he needs to be called out by SOMEONE. Coach isn't going to do it. Kp isn't going to do it. So who should? The fans have a right voice their opinion on Brandon Roy and his behavior. Especially when he is wrong.

Nope sorry, 100% disagree with you and I am calling you out for acting "grade school" with this rant. Too many people are forgetting what Roy has done for this ball club. The amount of "game winning shots" he took in the 4th quarter. The label that other teams gave Roy as "Mr. 4th quarter". The 1 player that was consistent during the Houston vs. Blazers series.

I would rather have Roy be our leader than a "self righteous" Melo. If Denver offered Melo, straight up for Roy, I would hope our GM would hang up the phone.

My pendulum doesn't swing. I do think Roy needs to step up and he has to answer for his lack of going inside. What I do not agree with is someone calling him a bitch. That's like grabbing a million dollars for someone because they want to take you out of the slums, you make a ton of money and get rich, then he goes broke and you turn your back on him.

Fuck that! Roy isn't perfect by a long shot, but I will never question his loyalty on this team.

I totally disagree with that. A team without a low post threat, like they lacked last season doesn't get past the first round. I can name hundreds of play-off teams that made it past the first round without a good PG.

I don't think Roy is a savior... without him, the team isn't nearly as good, but with Aldridge and Oden and Rudy and the rest, it's still a playoff team.

Maybe it's because I never thought of Roy as a savior that I don't particularly care what he has to say. I want him to play as well as possible every moment he is on the floor and I want him to keep improving. If he needs to whine or cajole or be entirely silent in the media doesn't matter to me AT ALL.

His opinions almost certainly have some sway in the organization, but I think that's only natural. Ultimately the decision-making is with Nate and KP, and I don't know enough of the future to determine if the franchise is better off having a quiet star or a noisy one.

Oden averages 24.2 minutes. Out of all the games he's played so far, only one time has he ever had 17 minutes. Most games he's had 24 minutes. Even I disagree that he needs more burn, but 15 minutes? LOL
