I personally think it is a bad decision to leave both roster spots open. It will only take one injury--Carter or Wright--for the Nets to look suddenly thin. I'm not a believer in using marcus as a SG. And signing a player for an emergency fill-in if and when he's needed just has the sound of disaster to it. We've been force-fed the party line of how complicated the team's offensive and defensive schemes are, and how hard it is for a new player to step in and "get it." And so we're supposed to believe that it is a good idea thatat a moment's notice, the Nets will be prepared to sign a free agent and have him step in and play ten minutes a nightimmediately? Keep in mind, too, that if the Nets had carried just 13 players last year, they would have likely rid themselves of Mikki, Boki, or both (assuming they would hold onto McInnis). Neither player was in the rotation to start the season. Look how that turned out.</p>

Sign another SG, give him a chance to learn the system in the event that he'll be needed. I'll take Hite, I'll take Houston.</p>

Well Robinson wasn't going to be available for another month or 2. So given the time we have between now and then, we would have been up the shitter if VC or RJ went down nevertheless. Now we have the chance to bring in a guy and give him time to work his way into the system. Ilic on the other hand could have had some PT. IF 3 of our 6 bigs go down. But when you can't beatt he coach in a sprint, your days are numbered....mind you a coach who never played above the prep level.</p>

Reading this makes me think that having Hassan not on a team during the season could come in pretty handy. Like you said, if a win has an injury, they could just take him in, he knows how this team works.</p>

Of course, I'd rather have a shooter, if we were to sign someone now.</p>
