The militia nutballs offered to “protect” the Republican senators, but the Republicans didn’t want anything to do with them.
https://www.wweek.com/news/state/20...om-right-wing-militias-theyre-not-interested/
Some of the members of the militias say senators personally called and asked for their help. Now, of course the republican senators won't admit to it pubicly. They would lose their jobs and be thrown in the hoosegow.
I haven’t seen any credible news reporting to that effect, but I suppose it’s possible that there are a couple of loony guys who would do that. I’m sure it will be portrayed that way among Dems.
As I understand it, what the Republicans are asking is that the bill be sent to a vote of the people. Given the broad impacts it would have in this state, I think that’s a reasonable position. Unless, of course, you’re a political party with a supermajority that wants to make a grandstand environmental play that will have only the most minuscule of impacts on the global carbon problem and you’re aware that your pet project will likely go down in flames at the polls.
To me it reads like both sides playing politics. It reads like what their constituents want to read.
Dems, hey the crazy republicans are all crazy cowboys their gonna kill us if we show up to work, though I never saw anything really substantial.
Reps, hey their bullying us into passing bills we don't want.
I read that entire article and thought this is two sides continuing to divide and conquer, they tell the people they "represent" what they want to hear and people eat it up.
White wing militias threatened democrats. Whether the republican members of congress were in on that or not, it is a valid threat. Yeah the Democrats are acting a bit cowardly about it, but still.
I don't think the bill has been thought through at all. It seems to have been quickly and lazily put together. It is to focused on the goal, on looks, rather than sturdiness. It does not take into account the consequences on small businessess.
I believe both parties despite democratic control should have come together as decent human mother fuckers and wrote a smart bill that helps the environment in a realistic manner while differentiating small businesses from larger corporations. There are consequences to bills and the democrats have not seemed to take these in hand.
The Republicans need to stop playing victim. Introduce a similar bill that meets all needs. The whole acting like kids thing is not adorable. Not one bit.
It's stated within the very article you posted above, to deny they asked militias for help. Embedded in said article are tweets from militia members who say republican congressmen called them to ask for their help.
I think it should be sent to the people to vote too. I agree with you there. I don't think this has been handled well on either side.
Vote 'em out. Republicans and Democrats.
“The biggest gun we’ve got Is called the ballot box So if you don't like who's in there Vote 'em out...."
come together as decent human mother fuckers
Yes, it's reported that the militia loons said that the Republicans asked for their help, but I haven't heard any reporting that supports that claim with a quote from one of the Republicans or someone who saw them hanging with militia members. Could be, because there are certainly some loose cannons out there, but I'm not generally inclined to believe much that the militia guys say.
So let me get this straight:To me it reads like both sides playing politics. It reads like what their constituents want to read.

So let me get this straight:
One side is the majority and will pass a bill in the normal democratic manner, and the other side is refusing to come to work and openly gloating (see below) about heavily armed militias helping them out, and your take is "all politicians suck equally"?

some just have more practice than othersdidnt say all politicians suck equally.
Yeah but since its a bunch of small town white people the democrats are going crazy, is either one better? People see what they want to see, goes for both sides sometimes.Yeah, if it was Black people that comprised that armed militia...if things were the other way around, alot of you conservatives on here would be going off the deep end. As it is, it's ok I guess.
I mean I do think politicians suck, and in this case the republicans are in the wrong, moreso than the democrats.some just have more practice than others
There is no "both sides" garbage rhetoric to this.If youre to going qoute someone then do it correctly, I said it read like politicians dividing and conquering, didnt say all politicians suck equally.
Dems have skipped work before in Texas but if its a cause that aligns with your political leanings its ok, its not than its not. Thus both sides, same crap different day. There is no "both sides" garbage rhetoric to this.
One party is trying to pass a law in a normal democratic way, using the the legal process. The other party refuses to show up to work, partners with a psychotic militia and gloats publicly about the other party cowering in fear.
There is no argument here.
I thought elections had consequences? Isn't that what most Republicans tell us? Weak ass Republicans have zero right to skip showing up to work. Vote these fuckers out.

actually I disagree ...skipping work and having that many voters leave the state and meet with the occupation militia dudes is a bit different...any party can caucus and regroup in the capital over their differences but they are elected to show up and vote even if they feel it's a lost cause...Dems have skipped work before in Texas but if its a cause that aligns with your political leanings its ok, its not than its not. Thus both sides, same crap different day.
