WTF is going on with Harkless

The way he has been playing lately we wouldn't need another small forward. He is easily at the level of Harrison Barnes from Warriors championship winning team or better (for sure better defensively).

We still would need another one either way. Connaughton is replaceable in the rotation. Imagine a scorer like Hutchison coming off the bench.

Hark has gone from 16% on threes in December, to 48% in Feb....to 60% so far in March.......

I would be very happy with just 40%. And with his stroke...... I think he can be consistent.

Mo is relaxed and confident shooting those threes. And I'm excited and confident when he's shooting them. Sure we'd all like Paul George. But Paul George isn't coming through that door. Mo is showing we might be just fine regardless.

You're trippin, Patty is great. Good solid backup at the 2 for CHEAP.

Getting Collins to develop will make a huge difference for this team.

I would love to see him develop a turn around 10 - 15 footer instead of just a 3 point shot.

Maybe next year when he gets some more strength....... and workouts with our big man coach.

What’s your definition of good and solid, because a guy averaging 5 points a game with average shooting percentages (considering the shots he takes,) a PER in single digits, and a defensive rating of 110, isn’t mine. Good thing the coaching staff seemingly agrees since his role has gradually been marginalized.

And he won’t be on a rookie scale contract after this season, so you can’t even say cheap. He’s completely replaceable.

TANGENT ALERT

Ooh, here's an interesting mental exercise: Would you rather have Patty C and Jusuf Nurkic, or Rondae Hollis-Jefferson?

A first round rookie would still be more expensive though (for example, Zach Collins's salary *this year* is more than Patty C's entire career earnings including this year).

A first round rookie wouldn't be more expensive considering we'll be drafting in the bottom half of the first round and Connaughton will be on his second contract. The minimum starting salary for him would be higher than anyone drafted in Portlands range.

Nah, Pat should be our back-up SG. We just need that 6th man - Turner isn't it.
As long as we can re-sign Pat on a team-friendly contract I want to retain him. Smart players don't grow on trees.

Shedbazz Napier-Davis is obviously our sixth man.

Also, If you figure out how to offload Turner, you keep Patty C; he'll give you Evan Turner stats for 1/5th the price, which is almost the correct value for that performance.

Just curious, Nurkic, Davis, Pat, & Bazz.... We probably can't resign all of them and go so far over the cap. Who is the one man gone in this equation?

The rookie will make way more per year for similar production.
I kinda get where Scalma is coming from: a 26th pick will make 1.4 million a year, which is what Patty C is making now, but is a 26th pick a guarantee of quality? There have been 64 #26 picks, and only 49 ever played a minute in the NBA. Of those, only 17 have a WS/48 better than Patty C's. Of those, only 7 are guards. So in 63 years of the draft, seven guards are better than Patty C.

...of course, one of them was Dave Twardzik (the greatest 26th pick ever!) so maybe we're biased in favor of them.

1) Pat;
2) Bazz

Depending on what Neil thinks of the other backup PGs and Wings. Neither is irreplaceable if their asking price is too high.
