That's so completely ridiculous it's hard to even know how to respond. Some of the bad contracts like Headley have nothing to do with the best available to Cashman. It has to do with piss poor talent evaluation. They had Solarte and decided to send him and a minor league pitcher to San Diego for Headley. The result became a bad contract to Headley and Solarte outperforming him in San Diego for a fraction of the price.

Headley: .260 11 Hrs 61 RBIs 22 Errors

Solarte: .275 13 Hrs 61 RBIs 6 Errors

Don't forget the large difference in salary Vic.

Look I've always said everyone is entitled to their opinion. That being said when you put that opinion out there for public consumption it's certainly going to be scrutinized. You can certainly not like Joe Girardi as it's your right to do so. You can criticize his moves and not think he's a good manager. All fine and dandy. The fact is that's not what I argue with you about and I'm sure that's not why some others argue with you either. The problem is when you just keep repeating the same point over and over again and at times the basis for backing up your statement is such a reach that you actually hurt yourself. This is why people have mentioned agenda posting to you. When you clearly come with a nightly purpose to somehow mention Joe Girardi and spark the same mundane conversation. The last two nights you mentioned two things that were such reaches it had to be done intentionally. One was on a double play where Ackley was in the perfect position to turn the DP you somehow decided it was relevant to mention where Didi was playing. Then in regards to last nights game you still have failed to back up your statement that somehow the wrong lineup was out there last night. Several people asked who you would like in there and instead of any kind of answer we're still here now doing the same song and dance.

...gee Mess, could you possibly make it any simpler? :bgrin:

...not that it would do any good.

Holy crap, in no way could my post be taken as a PERSONAL ATTACK. You STILL haven't answered my question (post45) Okay you'd bring in Maddon (not available) So what other changes would you make to improve the team, players, coaches etc. I mean seriously you bitch and moan about everything that's wrong with the team but when asked you give absolutely no idea's on how to improve things, here's your chance. Or am I wasting my time in asking?

What you have to remember is that in all of sports a bad general managers moves can be felt for years within the organization.

I would take a players perspective of the game before a fans every day of the week and twice on Sunday

I've been a Giradi Fan since game 1 '08. Granted there is some stuff he does that I wonder about, but I also figure he knows his club far better than I. I have also advocated that he's the right man for the job as well. Last night he sent out a man, Bailey, who did a boys job, and there are more on this team who accomplished the same. The only other current Manager out there that I could see managing the Yankees is Terry Francona, good manager betrayed by a spoiled clique of players in Bean Town. I'm also more than convinced that for this franchise to move forward Cashman has to be replaced. If shit starts rolling down hill over this years team, Girardi may well be at the bottom of the heap, totally unfair.

Rick I don't know what planet you're on , but where I'm from stating that a poster is bitching & moaning all the time , first of all that is an false accusation , and it is an attack cause you are provoking a response with such a ridiculous accusation. I am entitled to complain, my complaints are directed at someone else That's all, God forbid, someone has a difference of opinion!

So why not just say, "this team is not very good & I have no idea how to fix it" Instead of sounding like a parent who responds to there children when asked WHY? with....BECAUSE I SAID SO!"

My point is of course its okay to complain & in your case excessively but when someone asked for your opinion on how to improve things (even slightly) you could (as a former player) be able to come up with an idea or two. Just saying.

This is getting good, let me get some popcorn....Lmao

Seriously wouldn't you also like to see a few good idea's, hell Lillie move over & pass the popcorn, I'd like to see where this goes also.

In today's game thread I presented what I'd like to see in lineup changes, that's just an idea, some of us have no idea's but that's mine.

I saw the Lineup you posted and I like it. Gardner needs a few days off but I still think he should be somewhere in the Lineup.

...this is another classically and hilariously funny thread...sad, but still funny,

It is kind of humorous when simple questions can't even be answered.

"I think we need a new mgr"
"Yeah who would you get?
"......................................"

"I think we need some changes"
"Okay how would you change things?"
"...................................."

"These players just aren't performing"
"How can we fix that?"
"....................................."

Like I said, SIMPLE questions, just asking for some ideas. Why is this so hard?

rick, with all due respect, i know u r the elder statesman on here, and it's pretty obvious i am not the favorite son , and i have absolutely no problem with that, we know 1 in particular does if you feel for a snake that got capped 20x's and is unrecognizable for its family to give a decent burial... again with all due respect, you sound your age!

i have not outlined anything on here what good coaches do? like holding their players accountable, or how bout stressing fundementals, for instance headley, how bout hitting the 1st baseman in chest 1 time, or a position player thats supposed to be able to get a bunt down. You said it yourself, where's the running game, small ball, some of you state the players SUCK, so he really has no ego's to be concerned about, right? shake up the line up!

There you go! that's an idea, I gave my line up in today's thread, how's it look to you?

And yes we share many of the same complaints, No running game, no small ball, no backing opposing batters off the plate, not enough going the other way with a wide open left side, etc. Is this all on Girardi? I don't know but IMO I think its all things that should & need to be addressed. Now MAYBE Girardi is not the guy BUT....if not him then who?

i have said this before , and i will say it again, it does not matter the level of a player, they still need guidance.. i feel girardi thinks he is still one of the guys, he is not, he is THE BOSS, and he has to hold these guys accountable, he cannot worry about hurting a players feelings, he has to stop babying these guys, days off fine, but not 1 after you been on the DL for 2 months, played 3 in a row does it warrant time off.

girardi just needs to toughen up, grow a set! that's is all. he has his team in the PS, someone is doing something right, but it can be better!

^^^ "...it does not matter the level of a player..."

...yes, because what really separates the good teams from the bad teams is their coach, not their players...check.

...after premising an opinion with something as inane as that, anything subsequently said after that has no credibility...including the pompous assumption than any of us have any real knowledge of what really goes on behind the scenes of the Yankees' roster, the actual health of it's players, and the running of a team.

...and when did Girardi go from being merely "an overpaid baby sitter".... "THE BOSS"?

To assert that players like Gardner and Arod have died out this season because Girardi is not motivating them properly is such an idiotic argument it wouldn't even be worth discussing. What about another veteran in Ellsbury? Girardi hasn't held his hand enough so he's having the most abysmal season of his career? I mean it's getting laughable that this is being viewed as some kind of little league team. The roster clearly wasn't good enough and they did nothing to improve it. That's all there is to it. We already know that for a big portion of the season the offense was being carried by Tex and Arod. One was lost for the year and the other at 40 years old naturally faded. Bird has been a nice surprise but they have nobody else of any consistency to help this lineup.

Credibility is what I do have Whether you choose to believe it or not, and as far as knowing what goes on behind the scenes, I ate , drank , played , slept with, not sexually of course , I know where some of you will go with that statement, with players in the hall ! Had coaches that made it to the show, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes?

How thick headed can one be?

...that's simply amazing...I had the exact same experiences when I played pro ball.

I want to be a coach too....Do I qualify???

...what kind of Baseball experience do you have, Lil?...even if you've only been hit by a foul ball at a softball game, you qualify. I suppose you'll also want a no trade clause ?...and an opt out clause too?....no problemo.

Ok cool.....being that I never played the game in my life, that's a sweet deal.
