Gardner has done his share to earn such a hallowed title and position in my opinion.

On this team Gardner is the epitome of a leader for the youngsters. Something no other salty veteran on this team has stepped up to do other than LeMahieu. And he's not a salty veteran really imo...

Back in '08 I was watching a televised Yankees Red Sox game with Gardner getting a GWRBI against Papelbon. Bringing Gardner back on a one year deal in '20 would be akin to the Matt Holiday signing in '17.
