L. Cessa (4-0, 4.17)

vs.

A. Sanchez (13-2, 2.88)

Lineups to follow...

Gardner -LF
Ellsbury -CF
Sanchez -C
Gregorious -SS
Castro -2B
McCann -DH
Headley -3B
Judge -RF
Austin -1B

...note to Castro...run hard out of the box...you can go into your HR trot after the ball goes over the fence.

The one big reason why I'm interested in tonight's game is Cessa.
He's gotten to the point where he could establish some consistency with a good decent game tonight.
He's done okay in his last three starts going 6 IP in each game and not allowing more than 3 ER in any of them.
Two of those games vs good clubs KC and Baltimore.

We don't know what this kid can do but if he comes up with a pretty good game vs Toronto it could be a significant step in his progress.

Headley sabotages Cessa again....he cost the kid a run vs KC with an error and now can't come up with the slow roller.....and Gardner should've caught the looping RBI single by Bautista.
Dammit, now the kid is in hot water.
Yep, Cessa has to learn how to pitch out of trouble and the Yankee defense has put him there.

...the kids do it again...Judge and Austin put the good guys on top.

Quite impressive opposite field power shown by Austin.

Nice: TA goes deep Yanks up, kid is starting to hit. Come on Pen keep them shut down.

Warren strikes out Martin, never did like that asshole when he was a Yankee!

Ah shit - Austin should've gotten over there in time to catch Tulo's foul pop....would've been 3rd out, of course he then singles.
Now a passed ball puts tying run on 2nd....holding my breath, lol

I knew it was too good to be true. Bullpen shits the bed again.

It's one thing if they get hit hard and the batters earn it. I cannot stand the walks.

Way to go Didi. Big RBI triple ties it at 4-4.

Castro sac fly makes it 5-4. Quite the game tonight.

Ah Heller, you fucked up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He fell in love with his fastball.
After getting ahead 0-1 with the fastball he came right back with another one.
Like all competent ML hitters, Pillar (.262) makes his living by having a plan and making sure he's prepared for certain pitches in certain locations.
Heller came right back with a fastball over the plate, after seeing the first one, Pillar jumped on the next one.

Heller (and Sanchez) should've known better and throw a breaking ball down and/or away from the zone.
Basic stuff. You pitch to the game situation, if Pillar was up with NO runners on and two outs, then throwing another 0-1 fastball would've been more sensible.
Heller has a good fastball, but even the great Goose Gossage made sure he mixed in the breaking ball at the right point in the count.

Heller did Pillar a favor by doubling up on the fastball in that situation.
