Back in '08 I was watching a televised Yankees/Red Sox game won by the Yankees when Brett Gardner got a game wining RBI off of Papelbon. One cool Gardner GWRBI from Gardner this season was when he hit a GWRBI against the Cubs in Wrigley with the Yankees sweeping the series. But that AB tonight in the ninth proved to be the most valuable hit for him this season. Padded the lead and gave Chapman breathing room to finish with a flourish. I tip my cap to you Mr. Gardner. The Yankees win their first ALDS since '12. Happy Days Are Here Again. A well played, pitched, and managed game.
