...Mess, part of it stems from the fact that early on the Yanx were not getting innings from the starters (less than 6 inning average)...that will tax any BP...personally, I think Joe has handle the pen OK.

Truth but I just don't want a repeat of Torre when Proctors arm fell off and the pen was dead by August.

...yup, and hopefully, the return of Tanaka and Nova, along with Pineda will help the pen out a bit.

...and fwiw, I am totally against the "6 man rotation" thing...so assuming Nova returns to form, 2 pitchers between CC, Warren, Capuano, and Eovaldi are going to get their feelings hurt by being demoted/traded/moved to the pen.

...nice to have "too much pitching" for a change.

Better to see some ones feathers get ruffled than the team not get to the playoffs. Tank, Pineda, & Nova will pretty much settle 1-3 if healthy. I think Warren has earned 4 to this point. Good luck to the rest and yep hold the 5 man rotation but every once in a while a spot starter could be a cool thing. Yankees are going to have to ruffle some infields feathers as well, with Ryan, Gregorius, Pirella and Drew, something has to give there as well.

We all know CC is not leaving the rotation so let's not even entertain that.

$23M says CC isn't going anywhere, So you'll have Tanaka, Pineda, Nova, CC & I'm guessing Eovaldi. Warren as nice as he's done will be the guy going to the pen if for no other reason, now that Betances will be closing until Miller comes back Warren will become the set up guy with Capuano doing the long relief. And keep in mind that we really don't know what kind of pitcher Nova is going to be when he returns. Bottom line is, its a nice problem to have this many options.

...Warren is a starter...and much more so than CC...money be damned. ARod had to earn his spot on the roster and was told so before the season began...and he has.
...CC is no better....and if Joe does not have the balls to stand up for what right and what's wrong and stand up to the Steins and Cashman and tell them that the best players should and will play, he's not the right man for the job.

Hey Ron, I'm in full agreement with you here. Warren is much more worthy of being a starter then CC is, I just don't see anyone having the balls to put the $23M dollar man in the bullpen.

...you're probably right...balls are a rare commodity these days.

:craphead: :pokecrap: :shitstorm:

Odd thing is: a wise old man, once told me, "One has to deal with the shit or manure which enables healthy plant growth and/or to give Roses Fragrance"......Ok, then fk the roses, I'll plant Tumbleweeds......[/QUOTE]

Horse manure is the best dung for my roses. LOL

I don't enjoy playing devil's advocate on this one but.....at this point if CC turns in another good start the Yanks (and me, lol) shouldn't be considered crazy if they say THIS could be THE turning point where he at least becomes a very decent #3-4 type pitcher.

I know, I could be very wrong on fatso, but the question still remains if he's going to be consistent. I think it's safe to say he has already demonstrated the ability to be effective and pitch good games.

In his case, he may have needed just a bit more time to find good "consistency"
I know it's an old story but the big guy is STILL kinda reinventing himself and has many big moving parts. Lol

Okay, take it easy on me....lol

#3 starter? That ship has sailed. #4 starter? maybe. I'd say he's closer to a 5 then a 4. JMO.

Frankly, these days the exact number in the rotation means nothing. We know Tanaka and Pineda are the top arms the Yankees are counting on. Frankly, the Yankees need CC to be effective for their long term success this season.

Really? And if, if, he pitches another 6+ innings with 2-3 ER in his next start....what may you say?
How about 5+ innings with two runs?
Or 7 IP with 3-4 runs?....or 7 IP with 3 ER?

Willing to thrown him overboard?

I don't think the ship has sailed just yet.
Maybe, maybe not.....I'm anxious to see his next start.

Thinking like a MGR requires a lot of patience trying to navigate through the season putting your team in a position to win "today" while also thinking along down the road.

Regarding CC...Hope isn't a strategy. This is big boys league, best pitcher should get the ball. And what you've done lately is all that matters. I could care less about RSP/LSP.

CC being a veteran team leader should demand Warren gets the ball over him. When this team can act selflessly and in defiance to the asinine plan/budget/excuse du jour, that's when I dust off my pom POM's.
