Post Game Visitors Clubhouse, Buck pulls out his guitar, twangs up an A Chord, breaks into an old Sonny James Tune,
"Well my shirt is ragged and my pants are tore,
Aint found nothing I'm looking for,
And I want to go back, to Baltimore.
I saw Sonny James, in Shreveport's Luzianna Hayride. He got a shit load of air time on the C&W stations. I will never forget the way he often held his guitar up on his shoulder at times. Sweet fine polished voice, not quit Jim Reeves or Ray Price, but he had a helluva following back then.......
Michael, I saw Stonewall Jackson open for Charlie Pride in 67, at the Hayride, and I couldn't believe my ears, (keep in mind, the deep south was still somewhat strongly in parts, racists, and slow to move towards civil rights, but that's a story for another day).....anyway, Stonewall was shit faced drunk, when He came out on stage, then as his band began to warm up, to build up to his opening tune, Jackson went into a drunken tirade, over and "Why should I, I, play backup to a black man, why should I open for this Nx%##%", "I'm more famous than this N%@##%@....!!!;
and his rant went on long enough, for the Producer to dim the lights until they were out, their way of giving Jackson a hint, He was about to be thrown out on his drunken ass........a short time latter Stonewall, walked off of the stage, while his band members stayed put........the shit must of hit the fan, because Stonewall, came back, and didn't say a word for the entire show........
