Yankees will probably call up Torreyes for Sunday's Game.
On this day 40 years ago, the Yankees were 8.5 games behind Boston. But this is not 1978... other than this stat, there are zero similarities.

Forget about Trashman or BaBoone..........Toe is back. Yankees, despite Tanaka, et al, will take finale!
Per Pinstripe Alley Toe was sent down along with Austin to get Bird back up. Walker could not be sent down so that made Toe odd man out, really stupid. Many of the Players wondered about that move as well. So instead of having Toe the Yankees had Walker who did very little. Get the man back up there and keep him for Christs Sake. Cashman and Boner blow more smoke that a Wester State Forest Fire.

"I am more valuable to my team hitting .330 then swinging for home runs." - Roberto Clemente
About that lineup, I'm afraid to ask.

In Pittsburgh you'd soon as shit in your grand mas' biscuits before saying negative thins about Clemente. That guy was one bad ass on the diamond. He went out too early while trying to do well for his fellow man.

LOL good 1 Michael. I never shit N grandmas biscuits, cuz number one they were delightful, & if anyone did Grandpa would pull out the razor strap.
One of Clemente quotes I've always admired: " if you are not working 2 make the world a better place for those who follow, then you are just wasting your time on this Earth."
First glove I ever got as a kid was a Clemente model... He was a saint amongst us, and a monster on the field with bat glove arms and legs... a one-of-a-kind show stopper, God bless his soul. I will never forget that's fatal New Year's Eve, when his plane went down in the storm...
Amazing how back in the fifties a team could pluck a Talent like Clemente out of anothers farm system- Doyers/ in Montreal i.e Royals ( no affiliation with KC) Without this system we have today....
