I'm surprised it took the Yanx this long, to honor Willie.......but then again, the Yanx IMO, have over played their hands, when it comes to retired numbers, plaques, yet lack a couple or few Monuments, ie Yogi Berra, Jeter (I'd of given Derek His Monument on His last Home game, MO' also).......

Willie is definitely worthy of a plaque & yes long over due & IMO several of the retired numbers should have been given plaques instead of having there numbers retired. Guys like Billy Martib (#1) Roger Maris (#9), Phil Rizzuto (#10), Reggie Jackson (#44) & Ron Guidry (#49). I also might throw in guys like Possada, Williams & Pettitte.

I agree with your take, Rick.......:twothumbs:

Be nice to see the Yankees win a game on a day that they choose to honor someone, Eovaldi pitching I sure doubt it. Willie Randolph was a bit more reserved bit every bit as tough and capable on the Diamond as any of the other '76 to '78 Yankees.

Nice tribute to willie, ' Thurman was tough. Now that was leadership! Never see that again... Good job callin everyone out..... Play ball!!!!!!

It never dawns on you that Munson was only 32 years old when he died in that plane crash.

Great, they got the ceremony & the old timers game in but now its raining. Why they started this at 4PM is beyond me.

Well a scoreless first is a vast improvement.

1-0 after Gardy triple and fielder's choice by Arod.

Still only 1-0 but a 33 pitch first inning by Simon.

Am I nuts or am I seeing an improved rate of play by Gregorius on both side of the dish. Boy must be eating his Wheaties!!!!!!!!!!!

Gardner 3-3 as he continues his hot streak at the plate. 4-0 is all well and good but they really need to bust this open with as bad as Simon has been.

Single by Headley makes it 5-0 and that's the end of the night for Simon.

Eovaldi so far giving us a good game - good news.
Yankee bats warming up again.....all good.....and bam, Arod now HRS..

An Abomb by Arod and it's 8-0. 5 RBIs for Alex and Gardy is a homer from the cycle and it's only the fourth inning.

not too many players can turn on a fastball like that, esp at age 40... not to cause controversy, but would you be surprised if arod was peddin?

Even Beltran with two homers tonight. Everybody hitting.

At the degree I'm sure he's being tested this season he would have to be out of his mind.

good point, however , i had heard that the players union doesn't allow testing during season, now i don't know if that is for certain players...
