how many stud pitchers are out there?
Why doesn't Seve count its not like another team drafted him.
zero because to me the draft is a frigen crap shoot...FWIW Al, in the 20 drafts since Cashman became GM he has drafted a pitcher with their initial pick 13 freaking times...without googling, how many can you name?
zero because to me the draft is a frigen crap shoot...
although i do believe we traded a former first rounder in the Sonny Grey who had arm surgery.
two guys that have been drafted by the yanks are sitting in their pen
my point is ...what team produces great pitchers that were drafted and with picks after the 20th overall pick
now with the help of google...
Yankee First picks by year
2004 Phil Hughes...23rd pick overall
2004 Jonathan Poterson (catcher) 37th overall pick and Jeffrey Marquez ....41st pick overall
2005 Carl Henry shortsop 17th overall pick
2006 Ian Kennedy 21st overall pick
2006 Joba 41st overall pick
2007 Andrew Brackman 30th overall pick --tommy john surgery in 2007
2008 Gerrit Cole... 28th overall pick...and went on to become a very good pitcher with Pittsburgh and now Houston
2008 Jeremy Bleich 44th overall pick surgery on torn glenoid labrum 2010
2009 Slade Heathcott 29th overall pick outfielder
2010 Cito Culver 32nd overall pick shortstop
2011 Dante Bichette 51st overall pick thirdbaseman
2012 Ty Hensley 30th overall pick 2013 surgery on both hip labrums and in 2015 torn ulner collateral ligament and had 2 Tommy John surgeries
2013 Eric Jagielo 26th overall pickthird baseman
2013 All Rise 32nd overall pick
2013 Ian Clarkin 33rd overall pick traded for Frzier, Robertson and Kahnle
2014 NO FIRST ROUND PICK
2015 James Kaprielian 16th overall pick TJ Surgery traded for Sonny Gray
outside of kaprielian...no pitching picks in the top 20 and alot of picks with surgeries
Yankees reinstated Adam Warren from the DL optioned Kahnle to Triple A.
...don't look now but you just proved what I and others have been trying to say.
Keep in mind Cole refused to sign...can't count a non-signed player...
Kennedy was/is a good pitcher
Phil Hughes and Joba got fucked around with between being a starter and reliever.
...yeah, and Kennedy was traded away, Cashman's move... Hughes and Joba were also Cashman's responsibility.
Should Cashman have done better..sure...
...thank you !
I was unaware Tanaka decided not to opt out. Smart move, as I doubt any other Team would pay him half his salary...
I don't see much in this year's FA Class. Just say NO to Kershaw, and most others over the age of 30, and those with big fat contracts. IF Corbin didn't already have TJ, he'd be a nice pick up, but he's already blown his elbow out once. No SP's under the age of 30??? Richards??? Slim Pickings...

...also true, but I'm sure there will be a lot of "sellers" by the trade deadline.
Indeed, I have <little faith in Trashman making the right moves/trade... Steinbrenner should put Trashman's ass on the line, if they do not make postseason!!! Or bumbles obtaining the right SP..
