While I love Bird so far I also remember Kevin Maas. So I keep my expectation in check with such a small sample size.

Good Point, Maas was exciting no doubt, but with both knees with braces, I never had expectations of Him sticking around for long........

Though not quite another Kevin Maas I believe Shane Spencer was another one that looked promising.

Pasqua disappointed everyone....
Buhner proved to be a legit force to be reckoned with......
Pagliarulo, was a helluva mud shark at Thunder Alley........
Spencer, I expected to see for a decade, but did not seem to catch on......

then we got Hensley Bam Bam Meulens, IMO, one of the biggest over rate Prospect Flops, the Yanx have ever seen other than Brien Taylor......

anyone recollect this: ????

Saw Bird being interviewed post game by Kenney, Sherman, and Rosenthal. Kid showed respect for his team mates and situation. When Sherman (poor attempt at beard) asked how he was read Bird replied "I've ve worked for this and keep it simple. Bird and Sevey give us reason to think there is a future. Always seeing other teams give their kids a chance, nice to see the Yankees doing so.

Well from here we have the Indians coming in for the next 4 games followed by 3 with the Astros. While the Blue Jays after tonight (Phillies) stay on the road for 3 with the Angels followed by 3 with the Rangers.

Buhner found the power of the syringe if you ask me.

I don't think we'll see much from Philly. The Angels will try, they are still in the race. Yankees need to take care of their own business. I'd be willing to bet that the older players see Bird and Sevey as a pleasant infusion of fresh blood. Hopefully we'll see Judge in the September call ups.

Good to get the much needed sweep. Now on to the next series.

Buhner found the power of the syringe if you ask me.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did; there was a helluva lot of PED's going around, unknown to many back then, (just ask Lyle Alzado, who admitted to using Steroids as far back as the very early 80s)......

As well- Buhner's little brother, (Shawn); who was every bit as big, and somewhat strong and husky as Jay, (tho' lacking the brute muscles of jay), was a pitiful hitter, when he played here with the M's Org. He hit a few long balls in a Hitter Friendly ballpark, (where the wind gusts get up to 50mph often, to RF)............yet never lived up to his own potential, let alone his bros.........

...nice sweep for the good guys, sorry I missed the game...happy for Bird.

Now they ought to change his number to 33 as per the great Larry Bird.

Unreal, Philly whacking the Jays at end 6th, 7-2. Cracktown losing to the Mets 3-1, they had Syndergard on the ropes in the 1st but a double play got him out of it.

Happy to see the Phillies come up with a win against Toronto tonight. O's beat the Mets walk off style.
