I don't think I'm a Yi basher. But he's been trash this year, that's a fact.
He had two good games. Not a big deal. Let's see what happens next. Sean had a string of awesome games and last year and where is he now?
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that he had 2 good games in a row. But that doesn't cancel out a bunch of bad ones before them.
So say a player (and I just mean in general, not Yi) has 20 bad games in a row, and then 2 good ones. That suddenly means he's a good player now?Actually, it does. When you contribute to the the team and they win. That player deserves credit. You also have to remember, Yi lead the nets in +/-
So, we all enjoy bashing Yi when he's bad, but he actually improves we're all waiting in the shadows for another bad game.
Inform me please, what consitutes a good game? Some say YI only had 2, which i beg to differ but before i want to dispute that i need to know what constitutes or merrit the tag, "a good game?"
I agree that Yi hasn't been a strong contributor for most of the season. But I think much of it had to do with how the Nets were using him...all he was doing for most of the season was standing out at the 3pt line waiting for Harris or Carter to kick the ball out to him; not, IMHO, the best use of an athletic 7-footer.
In these last two games, he was getting more plays called for him...he was posting up, pick-and-rolling, etc. A guy with his skills is going to get anxious/bored just standing around waiting to take a long jumper, and I think that was starting to wear on him.
I don't think it's coincidence that Yi put together two strong games with Devin Harris out of the lineup. With Harris out, Lawrence Frank had to call a game that involved everybody, not just his guards...

this thread is as irrational as the yi fans are trying to defend Yi after 8 straight bad games in a row. I'm glad he's put up two good games back to back. However, these games were against two of the worst teams in the nba, and against two of the worst front courts in the nba. And, two of the worst defensive teams in the nba.
So, lets have this type of thread after he puts up a good game against the bucks, or celtics, or hawks or something substantial. Yes everybody on the planet agrees he does have some kind of potential, but a true great star will be able to produce against good teams. Its not all about just points and boards. Its about the little things that help a team win. Lately, he has been doing more things than just sit on the 3 pt line, and drift back to half court after the team misses. Lately he's been playing like a real basketball player. Is it a breakout or is it 2 good games against very poor teams.
This thread maybe just a bit premature. Time will tell......
and agian Friday will be a good test for him. If he has a game like the past 2 against a decent front line he will open my eyes more. The bucks aren't champions but they are light years ahead of the kings and grizzlies. So the real question is : Is Yi building off of his successes or is he just good against really, really, bad teams...
Haters never realize they're haters. If you have to defend yourself with Swat... that's pretty sad.
Your logic, lets break it down. Swat suck this year but was good last year -----> Yi = trash.
It's quite laughable... thanks, you made my day. That's a fact!
What's your problem? When have I ever said anything bad about Yi? Never have. I wanted him to make the All-Star game, for Christ sakes. So don't automatically assume everybody is out to get Yi. Look at the poster's previous posts cause I haven't said anything about Yi. Not everyone is against your precious Yi.
I said Yi has been playing like trash this year. I didn't say he is trash. He has had some great games, such as the last two.
And I didn't say Swat was good last year, I said he had a string of awesome games. Look at these games...
v. Bos, 11/14, 14 pts 7 reb 4 blk
v. Mia, 11/17, 22 pts 8 reb 2 blk
v. Sac, 12/18, 11 pts 7 reb 8 blk
v. Det, 12/26, 11 pts 5 reb
v. Was, 12/28, 14 pts 10 reb 5 blk
v. Atl, 1/5, 15 pts 5 reb 2 blk
v. Nyk, 1/16, 16 pts 5 reb 1 blk
v. Lac, 1/19, 11 pts 11 reb 6 blk
v. Cha, 2/8, 11 pts 6 reb 3 blk
v. Dal, 2/10, 15 pts 7 reb 2 blk
An overwhelming majority of those games he was getting 15-25 mins a game off the bench. He wasn't an automatic starter, like Yi. I didn't even bother to mention some of Sean's games where he only scored 10 pts but might have had 4 reb and/or 2 or 3 blocks. Just because Sean was eviscerated by the rookie wall, doesn't mean you can choose to ignore that he was damn good at times last year. Better than Yi. Yi was drafted at 6, but pundits all believed Sean would have been right up there with Yi on the draft boards if it wasn't for him getting caught with weed.
Yi has had quality games this year, but not as many as Sean had last year. And where is Sean now? Yi has had a string of two games. He still needs to improve or he's going to disappear just like Sean did.
People who defend Yi incessantly are more annoying than the people who incessantly bash him.
My point is Yi had some poor games and everyone including me as bashed him for it. He's improving recently when the team needed him the most.
former superstar veteran forward RJ is only averaging 15 pts in December shooting 41% in 33 minutes.
Maybe there is some correlation, when the offense focus through Yi, his offensive stats improves...
I'm just pointing out your apples vs orange logic argument. I think Swat is a good talent, still do. But now it seems the media is making him out to be a head case, don't know if it's true or not.
Yi is averaging around 10 points a game in 25 minutes. That is believe or not, the league average for forwards. Someone pointed out our former superstar veteran forward RJ is only averaging 15 pts in December shooting 41% in 33 minutes. That's from being the #1 scoring option. RJ = trash?

Lol, the Yi fans here remind me of the Bargnani fans. After so many bad games a few good games come and their all up in arms 'eat crow bitches!' Don't get me wrong, I want Yi to play well since it gives the team a better chance to win but get back to me after a few weeks of good games, not just 2 good games.
You didn't get the news? According to Bucks fans, RJ is an overpaid jump shooter, or TRASH like you like to throw around so casually. Hey, everyone can have a bad month right?
HAHA all these people so protective of their boy RJ, go to Bucks Realgm and defend him.
