Notice Young: Blazers “Would Execute a Trade For Aldridge,” Per Source

At some point being tall would become a negative in football and baseball, I can imagine. I mean, 6'6" or 6'7" fine. But being 6'11" or taller wouldn't give you an edge. Maybe an OL in football but that it.
Rasheed Wallace would have been unstoppable at tight end. You could probably throw five yard passes up high to him over and over. It would probably get boring to watch. Shaq would have been better. Luckily they played basketball and didn't ruin the NFL.

Being left-handed and having a 99 mph FB is like a human cheat code at any height.

Definitely, but the higher release point was a big deal. The higher the release point, the harder it is for the hitter to pick up the pitch in time. His 100 MPH fastball probably looked like 110.

I'm mostly giving you a hard time. While his height in the end was a benefit, he was completely one of a kind. We'll likely never again see someone of that height who can keep his pitching mechanics together.

Disagree - in the future all pitching will be done by 10 foot tall cyborgs.

They'll wear mullets though, to maintain continuity with baseball's history.

Found this gem on Spurstalk in October:

This morning Jason Garrett of Arriosti Sports Therapy shared an interesting story regarding Aldridge on Mike Taylor's radio show. He said Tim and Lamarcus were working out together (doing one on one drills) and Lamarcus was exhausted. LA stopped playing and said something like "Man, I don't know how you do it". Tim said, "If you want to be playing when you're 39, you gotta work. Let's go." LaMarcus said "Nah, I'm done" and walked off the courtWe all know that Tim was/is a gym rat and one of the greatest of all time but I think this reflects poorly on Aldridge. Sometimes the body doesn't follow the mind and you end up being a blowhard. I wonder if he really he wants to be great or if he's willing to work for it.

I used to play full court after working swing shift every weeknight when I was 24. We'd play from midnight until about 2 am and everyone would want to go home and I'd try to get people to stay.

Truly loving to play basketball isn't necessarily a requirement to be good at it. Being 6'11 helps.

It probably is a requirement to be great at it though. Don't have experience myself with having either the talent or the love of playing, I am extrapolating from other life experience. I could be wrong.

Most likely but Sabonis could have been great at it with a minimum of interest. Playing after he was old and crippled makes me think he loved playing.

LMA just says shit he thinks people want to hear.

Aldridge had the work ethic and drive to get to where he did (NBA stardom, a pretty rare thing) but not the work ethic and drive of Tim Duncan. There are levels of work ethic and drive and Aldridge is probably ahead of some, behind others.

If we are to take this concept seriously, then that would imply there are numbers between 0 and 1, colors between black and white.

This goes against the very fundamentals of internet discussion. I think we will have to ban you, burn you as a witch, and then ban you again.

If we somehow got him back, it would give me an excuse to wear the three shirts of his that I have.

And admit it.....if he were to come back and play well, you'd welcome him....even if he sulked on the bench like a pussy.

Because the leg injury caused him to unfollow the spurs and request a trade.
You're making no sense. Whether he was 100% healthy or my hunch was correct that he was hobbled wouldn't have any bearing on his social media activity or feelings for the Spurs. If he's unhappy and wants to leave, it would behoove him to show out so that teams would want to trade for him and not view him as a highly paid player on a steep decline.

You mean LMA doesn't make sense. <3

Didn't he do the same shit here? People were denying it, even though he was moving.

He was seen moving out of the house he was renting at the time (he was renting Damon Stoudamire's house on the Tualatin/West Linn boundary). To be fair, that has was on the market for quite a while before, during, and after LA lived there.

Spurstalk at it again....

Give your best/ most realistic LaMarcus trade proposals.

I'd say he gets a 59th pick and a a beer for Aldridge and media would just call it genuis

One 5'5" 385 lb. future G League prospect and 8 cases of Orange Gatorade and we're good to go. Just get his heartless, lazy ass outta here asap!

Everything I've heard points to Portland reeeeeallly not wanting LMA back even if it means ridding themselves of bad contracts. Who knows though.

Seriously though, the next poster who comes up with a porzingis trade or some other silly ass pipe dream trade scenario should be banned for a month. It's just asinine to even think that might happen.

They don't seem to have a "no personal insults" rule, which makes part of the thread pretty funny. Arguing over who the biggest "asshat" is, and if they should start a poll..... Lol
