Ok, I need some ideas.

I'm doing this project for my class, and basically, we're terrorists in any group that we pick.

Well naturally, I picked Al-Qaida and I have to set up my own attack.

What are some potential targets AROUND THE WORLD? What would you do? Plane? Bomb? Suicide Bomb? Missile?

Any ideas will help.

Just so you guys know, I'm being 100% serious.

I was thinking about attacking the Vatican, but I found out someone else is doing that.

British Parliamant?
Schools in America?
Shopping Malls all around the country?
 
Pick a state, bomb the fire stations simultaneously and start a fire.

What can stop it?

kidnapping of public figures within america (e.g. news anchors) and u hold them for ransom (which would be 30 minutes of air time)

Pretty bizzare assignment, but a target I'd go after are freeways. If you can disrupt the flow of traffic and force everyone to reroute it costs company's millions of dollars and will agitate everyone involved.

You don't even half to blow anything up. All you need is a team of about 10 drivers. Each tandem of two will be in semi trucks and right before rush hour starts, stop the truck, turn off the engine, walk away and leave the trucks there. Then put a note on the window or door saying bomb inside.
 
You know what would be a perfect place to bomb, imo? The oscars....

All the big name celebrities packed into one place with all of the nation tuning in... that'll be something.

Heaven forbid that would happen though...
 
lol I don't like this assignment.

How about causing masses of people not working as the terrorists start a hippy peace rally.
 
In New York City I would bomb the subways at Rush Hour.

Yup, going after a cities transportation infrastructure causes the most damage in my opinion. It effects everyone even if you're not in the subway at the time of the explosion. If you drive, it causes more traffic on the streets, because the subway system doesn't work. People will be late to work, school, etc. and knocking out NYC's main source of transportation would cripple that cities economy.

A crippling economy in NY would effect the rest of the United States.

That's what I'd do too. If you do it right, the consequences would be devastating to the surrounding area, and it would probably be impossible to save the area.
 
Go after an energy plant. Everyone in the East coast remember how everything stopped during the blackout a couple years ago?
 
I'm thinking about doing a widescale attack.

Energy plants like Chutney said, on the east coast, malls around the country, and schools on the west coast. If everything goes to plan, they'll be simultaneous explosions followed by a truck bomb to make things more haywire for the first emergency responders.


LOL, this **** is probably being filtered to the FBI and they've got my phones tapped now.
 
This is a messed up assignment but bombing energy plants would create a huge problem.

Just wondering, is the scheme in Fight Club possible? If you haven't watched it, they destroyed all the credit card buildings, and theoretically, "set everything back to zero". Oh, and going after dams, like the Chang Jiang dam in China would probably be a huge terrorist attack.

I HIGHLY DOUBT that was an actual homework assignment.
let's face it schools, especially in the U.S., are known for being ultra-sensitive towards these things because they have to make the parents happy.
MANY parents would flip out if they heard this was an assignment.
this is almost like asking a class to plan the most awesome Columbine-style shooting.
if you are in college studying SECURITY or LAW ENFORCEMENT I would buy it. But I thought you said you were in high school so why don't you tell us the real reason you need this information?

I was thinking the exact same thing. I can't imagine any school assigning this project and this thread seems really sketchy.

Oh damn, I didn't even notice that during the movie. Weird. I'm guessing the movie's terrorism plot doesn't really have the effects in real life then. Anyways, here's somethings I would do:

-Blow up power plants, specifically oil refineries and nuclear plants.

-Take out mass transportation (mentioned already).

-If there's enough money, threaten to bomb the polar ice caps.
