Your worst scouting fail

Bayless is a decent role player now at least. I would love him back here now as long as he is healthy. He would be a good third guard for us.

He worked hard to improve his 3pt shot and now is pretty good at it.
But is he any better than Napier?

Most of mine were 2nd round guys (I have 2 or 3 a year that I become a little too attached too lol) so not necessarily sure you can call them fails.

Richard Howell, Norris Cole, Trevor Mbakwe Lorenzo Brown, David Lighty, Armon Johnson were all guys I thought would be nba role players at worst.

I've actually been pretty happy with my evaluations on 1st round guys. Most of the guys that I've really liked, even as late as late lotto to mid first, have stuck as starting quality players (McCollum, Adams, Markieff Morris, Gorgui Deing, Jimmy Butler to name a few)

The two that stick out as guys I was little to high on was Alec Burks (he has had a lot of injuries though), and Jared Sullinger (Thought he could be a Love type w/o the passing) .
I forgot about Armon Johnson. Meant to mention him because I remember MM being real high on him and low on Patty Mills.

Back in 1993 I remember wanting the Blazers to draft Yinka Dare SOOOOO bad.

I thought Dion Waiters had Dwyane Wade potential, I also Absolutely loved Oladipo's game coming out of college... thought he was gonna be an all-star.

I wasnt totally on the Lillard Train. Since that I tend to trust decision maker a bit more.

not as a player but I wanted to keep Kaleb Canales on as coach....that would have been a fail...he was a real believer in Nolan Smith and Luke Babbitt...his hard hat guys...

Kaleb should be posting in here shortly....

I thought Frylor was just a drunk with a twisted sense of humor.

I thought Chris Paul was an overhyped cheating crybaby who would never win a title...

I may wind up being right on that last part, but he's gotta be one of the best point guards of all time.

I wanted Russell Westbrick. He turned out to be an asshole. #myscoutingfail

Man, where is ProudBFan when we need him. He was a great guy (I worked with him back in the ESPN forum days starting in 2002) and a true Blazers fan, but he sure had a way of falling for the improbable coming-out-of-nowhere 7'+ international player. First it was our own Nedzad Sinanovic, then Ivan Chiriaev and Pavel Podkolzine and then Martynus Andriuskevicius, and probably a few more I have forgotten. That was back when were were perpetually in the lottery and every year he was convinced grabbing one of these previously unknown giants was the key to future dominance.

Haha Ivan Chiriev.

That guy was such hype for awhile. Mainly self induced by his agent and handlers. But he was so garbage. He was a legit 7 footer who thought his calling in the NBA was at the point guard spot.

I can't believe I completely forgot about that guy.

I remember him being all over P-Pod. But, he wasn't alone...... Ahhhh, the old ESPN board. I actually won the first prize from Gramps game. And one year I won @crandc 's western conference final standings thing. She sent me some delicious brownies. Good times.

I was on that board for years too. Until I found out about BBF. I think I remember Maris there as well. There was also this one notorious Laker troll.

ProudBFan got a divorce or something and never came back. That was years ago.

Yeah, maris and jlprk were both there. I remember the Laker troll, but the name is escaping me.

Yeah, by the time the divorce started we were no longer working together, but it sounded like it was pretty rough. I have no idea if he even lives around here anymore. I should see if he's on Facebook or Linkedin. Really good dude.
