You're in Neil's shoes...

Keeping our starting 5 intact would give us a huge advantage for the next few years. It just feels like we are going to let at least one go unfortunately

And that would likely fall between Wes or Nic should that happen.

I think Neil must absolutely acquire a scoring wing for our bench. Blazers are a contender now. You never know what can happen. Give me a Gerald Green or Aaron Afflalo type for some bench pieces like T-Rob and or Barton/CJ.

If he can swing a deal for Afflalo without impacting our starting 5, I'm buying finals tickets

Another guy I'd absolutely love to get is Kevin Martin. Can play the 2 and 3. Flops well to draw fouls, can create his own, and is a great shooter.

...when he's healthy enough to get on the court...

Yeah, but it raises two questions:

A) would he come off the bench?

and

B) what would Boston want?

Coming off the bench in limited minutes would likely ensure he opts out of his deal after the year, which would be big. WOuldn't really want to carry his 8+ over to next season.

Reason I didn't mention him is because he just broke his wrist. I had mentioned him before. He, along with Gerald Green would be the best shooters we can get. Afflalo is also quite good and gives better defense than the both.

No doubt the T-Wolves want to ship K-Mart out ASAP since they are in rebuild mode. All they need are some young pieces and cash incentives to pull the trigger.

If we're gonna make a move for a legit scoring 6th man, do it now. Don't wait till the deadline like the Pacers did with Evan Turner last year, and fucked up their chemistry into the stretch run and playoffs.

I agree. I think it's clear we need another shooter on the bench, so the time is now to make a move. Give the team time to gel. Ray Allen would be awesome, but I think a consolidation trade would be best. Robinson, Barton, etc for whatever.

Oh, sorry, I meant Jeff Green, not Martin.

Ray Allen would be awesome, i think he's going to wait as long as he can to see who looks really good though. I still think he's going to the Cavs if they don't look like crap by then.

I don't see the Cavs being a force anytime soon. In fact, Love is being exposed as the stat stuffer that he is. I was listening to Colin Cowherd this morning, and he was railing about how Love doesn't play defense, he doesn't play team ball, and he's not very good.

He really isn't that good. You can tell he doesn't put work in the off season like he should. He has the talent to be a rebounding machine, but until he's somewhat useful on the defensive end, he's exposed.

You'd think that even just using his formerly-ample backside to keep a defender out of the paint and boxing out would be better than nothing.

He's quite skilled, but chooses to dump defense for more energy-or-whatever on offense. I dont' know that it's fatal or irrecoverable, but he hasn't shown a predilection to change yet.

I take back being ho-hum on Marc Gasol.

Dude is playing at an MVP level.

What I can tell you is Olshey will have his work cut out for himself. We will see what he's really made of this summer

If we somehow added Gasol this summer, I think we would be the best team in the league.

How do you suppose we get him? Robin Lopez and Nic Batum for Marc Gasol and Tony Allen? Oh thats right he's a free agent so he would be 3rd string.

You edited your original post. I was saying he's a free agent. If we signed him, rolo would be gone.

I'd be ok with it but I'm sure there would be some that might frown upon that.

I'm interested in the cap rosterbation that would have to occur to get Gasol while only giving up RoLo.

I agree..

Gasol is such a fucking pipe dream. Are we going to go Houston and fuck up our team on a gamble like that?! I would much rather bring in the same players and look to trade for other players if that's the route Olshey is going at.

Keep the sure bet with decent contracts, then trade if a deal you can't pass up presents itself.
