I would suspect that if the player we're trading for fits the team then the cap plan could go out the window. The point of any move is to get better - if we can do that now, then why not? Isn't a guaranteed move better than potentially coming up empty this summer?

It should go without saying that if there is a no-brainer deal that we would do it. Apparently there isn't one. At least yet.

I have had some Bos fans like a Jeff Green for this years #1, Trob and Wright

Before the injury Stotts was asked by MB if he viewed CJ as a 6th man - Stotts said that MB was selling CJ short and that he viewed him as a starting SG down the road.

Preparing for a Wes departure?

Here's a question... given the way we play Wes in the offense, could you install Crabbe in Wes's position?

Wes is a career 40% from three with a legit post game, Crabbe would be a ginormous downgrade.

Wes is more important than a lot of people realize I fear

Wessy has proven it for years, Crabbe shouldnt be in the same book let alone sentence as far as being an NBA starter

I don't think we can trade our pick at the deadline this year since we traded our pick last year. I think we have to wait until after the draft pick is selected to trade him, if we indeed want to trade our draft pick.

Look, I'm not discounting Wesley here. But Crabbe is coming along nicely, and I was curious.

I don't think CJ is a starting shooting guard. I'm just really not seeing it.

You are incorrect. The Stepien rule only applies to multiple future picks. A single future pick can be dealt regardless of what might have happened in the past.

You (and you aren't alone in this - I may have been on board) wanted to outright cut Crabbe last year. We aren't the best talent evaluators.

I loved when we traded for the pick and drafted Crabbe. Was a huge fan of his in college.

Well, mostly Crabbe was the logical choice because he wasn't playing. At all. We had nothing to base an opinion off of.

Conversely, we've actually seen CJ play quite a bit. And I'm not basing it on talent alone, I just don't think he's big enough to be a starting shooting guard. Wes is 6'5 but he's strong and thick. CJ is 6'4 (ish) and he's still very thin. I don't see him standing up to the rigors of defending someone like James Harden. I think he's a spark off the bench kind of guy. Someone like a Jamal Crawford or a Rodney Stuckey. I think that's where he will be best suited.

Crabbe has the size to be a starting two. He has the stroke. I'm not sure yet if he has the confidence.

Let's put it this way. If Ben Gordon can start games at SG in the NBA then so can CJ. I not putting anything past him this early. That is how you (me) look like a fool.

BStotts said that MB was selling CJ short and that he viewed him as a starting SG down the road.
Goddamn, there's always something a little questionable about Stotts. I hope he's just saying words in the hopes of encouraging CJ. But if he actually BELIEVES that CJ is his future starting SG then we have a problem...and I really hope Stotts doesn't have any input on player acquisitions & trades.

I would agree that Crabbe has more starting potential than CJ. At this point going from Wes to Crabbe would be horrendous. But if for some reason we don't have Wes back next season - and we don't sign a replacement starting SG - then I'd slot Crabbe in that spot over CJ.
But really, I hope we trade CJ by the deadline.

CJ is the future better Mo Williams, only a better defender and less of a black hole, and, well, better.

Crabbe is the future better Wright.

And that's good for us.

Wes is listed at 6'5", he's closer to 6'3" though. With the heart of a lion.

What amazes me is how quickly (and accurately) Wes gets his three ball off, even when someone's on him like a blanket. That's tough to replace.

Heck, even when he's wide open it seems like he prefers the one dribble step back.

I think for this group, PA opens his wallet to keep LA, Wes and Rolo. He has always been willing to pay to keep teams together that are competitive. And this group is very competitive. It may not be championship-level, but it may only be a piece or two away.

If I'm Neil I sleep in; put the phone on voicemail and enjoy watching the season. Nothing for the GM to worry about until after the playoffs when we are getting ready for the draft.

John Henson is back and averaging 4 BPG.

All he needs is playing time.

Hint. Hint.
